40 odd and wanting some new friends

I'm hoping I'm not the only one thinking or going thro this too.
I'm 41 married got 2 kids 16 and 19 and a few health conditions anyway that's not my issue..
I have family around only a couple but that's not enough I'm a people person and would like some new friends to message not always to meet but someone to keep my head from exploding
I had childhood friends but then relocated so that fizzled out ,had friendships with kids friends mum that fizzled out
Now I'm finding most people are restarting over or just nothing in common.

I was rather tipsy the other weekend and messaged an old friend and knocked on her door said I miss you

you turned up drunk at her house? I'd probably let that one go then. Reviving an old friendship is one thing, turning up at her door, drunk, and telling her you miss her is a whole different level.

An appropriate way to reach out would be, for example, to send a message like, "Oh Maria. It's been ages since we got together - I'm afraid I've certainly been hugely distracted with the kids and work and things just sort of slipped away from me. Thank good ness they're finally getting a bit more independent! How are you and the family? Are you still a big tennis fan? I was thinking of trying to get some tickets for xx and thought it would be really lovely to go together and catch up? Let me know if you're keen and hope to see you soon. xx"
