BMWX1 - Quick Question

Quick question for anyone who has the same model BMWX1 as me (2023).
I’m having sporadic, weird, delaying /slow acceleration issues. It happens mostly at roundabouts.

Today, we were all in car (I’m currently driving it in personal mode. I used to always drive it always in eco mode but that was even worse at sluggish transmission) and I came to a stop at roundabout as there was traffic coming from the right. Then there’s my gap and put my foot down and there’s barely anything there and the car literally crawls away!

I slammed my breaks on and as there was nothing behind me, I quickly reversed back to junction so nothing hit me from the right.

My DH got cross, saying I should have kept going but my foot was literally nearly flat down. The power just wasn’t there!

This has happened every now and again randomly, over the past 2 years we’ve had the car - it’s been in to be checked and they’ve found nothing.

Anybody else having this same issue? I’ve googled and it seems others have had similar but not necessarily in same model BMW.

If this has happened, did you get it fixed and what did you do to make BMW listen? I think our service department dealership thinks I’m crazy!

Having a quick shufty at some of the BMW forums, this does seem to be a fairly common complaint, including some folk in X1's.

One of the things suggested is turning off the 'start stop' functions. (I guess the theory is that it's taking the engine a moment to kick in, then engage the gearbox, then go).

Does it do the same thing in 'sport mode'?

For the little it helps, it does sound like a 'thing', but i can't find anyone who had much joy with BMW :(

Thanks for your reply 😊
Yes I’ve been seeing slow transmission acceleration posts too last night.
So orignally at the bmw garage, the lead mechanic bloke asked what mode I drove in. I said Eco all the time and he gave me a look that said kind of “ohhhh”.

So I said surely if it has 3 modes, I should be able to choose any of them and the car should be able to drive. He said “well yes”. I got a bad feeling from then on.

So no, I don’t drive it in sports mode but the ‘personal’ mode is much more responsive than eco mode…..until it’s not 😬.

I also absolutely hate dealing with the dealership - last time when my husband took it in, they asked him ‘is it the way your wife is driving it?’.
That’s the general feeling I get whenever I go in or call them. They are always hesitant to believe me about anything.
