Help with finding a suit

I have a first hearing for child arrangements in July in what will be a hellish process. I have lost about 25kg since I left my husband and currently a size 12/14 which I haven’t been in decades. Weight loss has slowed recently but I hope this will continue until I reach a healthy bmi (I’m now overweight rather than obese). I’m finding it hard to know what to wear in general for so many reasons. I’m used to hiding myself, but my body has changed now and I don’t feel the same shame.

im looking for a clean, nicely tailored black suit that I can use for work too (I do go to court for work relatively frequently) but not sure where to go, what to look for. I just want classic - impactful. I want to show I am there for business. He won’t even see it, as there will be special measures due to DV, so it’s not about ‘showing him’ how I’m doing, it’s for me. I’d say I would spend up to £300 if necessary but any advice on where to look, what to go for would be hugely appreciated. I’m not even sure what size to get, still struggling a little with accepting that my size has changed.

I’m also down various Etsy rabbit holes trying to find suitably subtle brooches for said suit to represent my kids and this liberation I am undergoing 😂

Reiss, Hobbs, The Fold (might stretch the budget), Karen Millen all worth a look. M& S Autograph or Jaeger at M & S sometimes comes up trumps.

M&S usually come up on the generous side but I’d say sizing consistency has gone out of the window lately everywhere, even same brand, same design in 2 different colours will fit differently

you might find a dress & jacket gives more flexibility if your weight is likely to change a bit

what symbolism are you looking for for brooches? Butterfly (transformation/ flying free): cat (I’m ok alone); bird ( soaring high) etc - if you can think of some words to express what you want to say, I’m sure we can help!

In the meantime, here are some more literal ones from The Chiswick gift company to inspire or amuse you
