Will this stop me getting a refund?

I bought a macbook air three weeks ago (not direct from apple) and last night it turned itself off and wouldn't come back on. A red light started flashing on the screen and nothing else.

Contacted the company I bought it from and they said as its so new and I didn't even have it for a month they would refund me. They sent someone to pick it up this morning.

It just hit me thar I'm still signed into the icloud etc on the mac and I obviously couldn't sign out or do a factory reset so when they get it back if they manage to get it to turn on all my stuff will be on it, signed into my email etc

Will this stop a refund or will they be able to reset it all on their end?

Can you sign into your icloud elsewhere and log the macbook out? Then at least if they do manage to turn it on it will be logged out?

@laurmos it shouldn’t stop a refund as the reason you returned it still stands: it’s faulty. However, I would send a follow up message that you’re concerned about your data and so could they ensure it’s immediate factory reset to prevent any unauthorised access/potential cyber fraud.

You can log it out remotely via iphone or ipad settings. I doubt they will look further to avoid refund.
