I have a slight pain in my lower back. But much more pain in both my outer thighs. One side is wortse than the other. It hurts during the day.but it's much worse when in bed I get woken up with the pain in the night. I did think maybe sciatica but the pain in my back is only slight . Ibuprofen and paracetamol are not working.

Hi OP, I've had sciatica and I think it's normal for the pain to be mainly in your leg rather than your back and for it to be worse at night (as it doesn't like you lying still for long periods). However, the worrying bit is that it's in both legs. According to the NHS website this means you should go to A&E.

I will contact gp tomorrow. What did you take for the pain? The being still making it worse makes sense. I was digging the garden and lifting heavy things yesterday and I was OK. Like you say it's worse when resting.

I just had a look I'm not getting any of this
You may feel:

a sharp, burning pain down the back of the leg
tingling – like pins and needles
numbness
weakness

It's more of a deep ache.

No I didn't get tingling or numbness either - it was either a deep ache or a sudden sharp pain (eg if I got up from a sitting position). I took paracetamol for the pain which took the edge off it. Pilates really helped too.
