Clothing stock in M&S store

Hiya, just wondering if anyone has went into M&S recently to look at clothes? Unfortunately, as their online ordering service is closed I cannot buy the Striped Linen blend trousers that I’ve been eyeing up for weeks, looking for ‘short’ trousers too as I’m only 5’2😫judging from stock levels in your local stores, is it worth travelling an hour to see if they are in store or are the stores struggling for stock at the moment?

I am not sure what they are doing with all the clothes they are not selling online, as I have not seen them in the large store near me!

I'm going to the Tunbridge Wells store on Tuesday so will report back.

DD and I went yesterday to Bluewater ( one of their bigger stores I think)
She wanted trousers in 8 long but they had only 8 regular
Looking at reviews I think she'll need a 6 long .

So , stock was okay , just not what DD wanted

There's the Online Only ( I wanted Monsoon) but of course , cannot get those .

Can they order the trousers if I I go into the store - going to try another M&S . (if they don;t have the ones DD needs ) ? Anyone know

I was also looking for Tall trousers last week and as I take a size 18 there was nothing in store for me.

I know they usually tell you to order online, but I had thought they would take into account the online situation and stock a larger range of sizes.

@fairislecableits frustrating isn’t it, I have wide hips but I am still short so the regular size 6 would probs be the right length but there is no way I’m fitting my hips into that! it sounds like it’s ‘regular’ that they mostly have in stock, I took a look on Vinted and typically the trousers are being sold for more than they are in store 🙄

and they’re advertising the clothes on social media but then people go in to store and there are no sizes!

I went on Thursday for some trousers I’d also wanted for weeks. Tried some on but too big.

They 12 regular (too short) and 20/22/24.

The stock in Cardiff was pretty poor. I was looking for trousers but every pair I fancied had run out of short.

I went in today for bras and the stock was fine.

I was in the metro centre store yesterday and the stock sizes were all over the place. I was after linen trousers and they had lots of 8, 10 and 20 but very little in my size (14). My dh was after an autograph T-shirt and they only had it in xs or xxl.

I went yesturday for a lilac tshirt and yellow one. The stock on there webpage for the store i chose matched what was in store for me.

Can always call them at store with item number and they confirm and hold for you

I was in the Guildford store today and was pleasantly surprised to see so much stock. I wondered if they had diverted some of the online stock out to stores as they had every size in every length (and more than one in some sizes) of a couple of things I looked at. Or maybe I was just lucky!

In store no trousers in 10R in the style I wanted. I have tried twice now so definitely still issues.

They had quite a few trousers in Rushden Lakes store and I actually managed to buy a pair that fit me in 12L, the fitting rooms were quite busy. I would have liked the other colour in the pair I bought but they didn't have that colour at all. There were a few short pairs of trousers but as usual there were mostly regular but a fair few sizes

Is a very big store more likely to have them, if you can get to somewhere like Meadowhall with free parking

No they can’t order. They told me they use the same system as customers

My - large - local store had nothing in our sizes (16 and 8) that we would have worn. And even when we found the ‘right’ size, it turned out to be on the wrong hanger in nearly every case. They’ve been cutting back on shop floor staff for ages, and in this time of need it really shows.

surely head office could analyse their online order data from the past by the store it was sent to, and ‘push’ out the equivalent stock sizes now? Just eating for the stores to be able to ‘pull’ again is

I went for jeans yesterday and they only had long and regular in all of the options, not one pair of short in any style or any size.

There were no size 8, 10, 12,14 or 16 in any style other than jeggings and sienna.

I tried to order in-store and couldn't due to the ongoing cyber attack issues

I can’t understand why it’s taking so long for them to be open to online sales again. They must be losing an absolute fortune!

Because they cannot get access to their own system. They have refused to pay the ransom and are rebuilding their system and this takes time. And I for one applaud their refusal to be blackmailed even though it has probably cost many more millions in lost sales.

They are building the whole system and website from scratch. That’s an almost unimaginable undertaking. They have already said it’s going to take until at least July.
