Boy there’s so much to do this year, doing the uni visits
making big decisions, doing a million mocks, waiting for course work results etc

so hows your teen doing ?
mine finding the some of the exams terrible and some good so a right mixed bag

Dd is half way through, now on a 15 day break. Her next exam is unfortunately on her 18th birthday. She doesn’t finish til June 19th so hers are quite stretched out. Her first two went great she felt. The rest a mixed bag, one she felt went very badly. So far she has been quite calm (despite car breaking down on the way to her first one, and her having to appeal to a kind stranger who helped her get there in time and again fortunately turned out to be lovely and not a nutter).
This long break in the middle isn’t doing her a lot of good I don’t think as she is a person who finds it hard to motivate herself without a very impending deadline so she has lost a big of focus on her revision.
we are just trying to keep a nice calm house for her, and encourage her to focus without bagging too much. I’ll be glad when it’s over for sure!

Mine has her first on Friday and now a week off for half term. After next week they come thick and fast and she has 11 more to do (4 A levels) she’s very bright but also a typical teenager wanting to sleep in and watch Netflix all day so she needs to put her finger out. It’s gentle here and like helping to look after a T rex 🦖

Ds is doing ok though he tends to be hard on himself. He said French speaking could have been better. Came out of his first English paper very happy but has since been over-thinking and saying he didn't cover enough of the epic poem he has been studying. The second paper he says was ok but it was always going to be the hardest one. His third subject is his strongest and he came out of paper one of that ecstatic. Everything is an emotional roller-coaster with him! He hasn't got anything now until next Thursday so a nice long break to regroup.

Mine has just done her first 3 and has 5 left to do. They are spread out over 3 weeks after half-term which she is happy about as it gives her lots of time to focus on each exam. Two have gone well (she feels) and one she’s not sure about as she got the wrong end of the stick about something. Fingers crossed all the others go to plan. I think we’ll all breathe a sigh of relief when the exams are over! Good luck to everyone’s DC doing exams at the moment.

My DS says two have gone well but one he is devastated about as he thought it would be the easiest and it went terribly he wrote about the wrong thing for a 15 marker and couldn't answer some of the questions he was predicted an A and now feels he will be lucky to scrape a B.

This is such a rollercoaster, really wishing all of them and you all the best, few more weeks it will all be over !

It’s too much all at once with uni decisions and everything. Gah! We are on eggshells.

GingerPussInBoots · 25/05/2025 13:52

Yeah then we have to move onto the results day and will they get into their choice and will you need to go through clearing

What tatics are you going to use, to get through to results day..? I think I'm gonna try and distract us ith as much as possible

It's a really full on year isn't it

Urgh. Eggshells here too trying to persuade my teen it matters and they need to work. I was bonkers during a levels as I found them so hard but he's been very laissez faire

Trying to make mine have a day off! She has been full on revising. 2 done, 7 to go. She also passed her driving test this week so has been driving to college to take her mind off the exam which has helped. She missed 4 marks on her first paper which she’s kicking herself for as she really wants an A* for that one. Currently revising chemistry, she did a mock paper this morning and marked it to a B so she’s filling in the gaps.

SheilaFentiman · 25/05/2025 14:56

Mine has done 3 papers so far, he was in a stressed state for the first one and thought it was awful, but the other two went better. Ten more to go! (4 a levels)

HebeJeeby · 25/05/2025 15:02

it a difficult time for them all, a lot of stress and pressure. I keep telling DD that she doesn’t need 100%, she only needs X% in order to get an A* (or whatever grade she needs) and to stop stressing about the odd question that perhaps didn’t go to plan.
regarding clearance, we know which Uni we would like, so if it does come to that then DD is going to have their number in her phone ready to call. This Uni was in clearing for quite a while last year for her subject so hopefully we won’t have to worry about places running out too quickly.

Polkadottablecloth · 25/05/2025 15:07

Done 3, 5 to go spread out until June 19th. It’s a long time, they seem to have gone well though, he’s happy. Last week was intense with long exams and 18th all at the same time. Big party yesterday to celebrate birthday and have a bit of a break. He’s back to revising already. He’s been so focused and worked v hard, hoping it will it off in August!

PuppyMonkey · 25/05/2025 15:08

Mine has done 3 and is on half term now - only another 2 to go as one of her A levels is art and that’s already done and dusted. She’s been amazing really, revising all the hours available apart from yesterday when she had an event to go to. Says the exams have been fine so far. Really proud of her tbh. Just keeping her topped up with drinks and snacks. All over by June 10.
