You have bought a ticket to go to a show it’s miles Away we are talking three hours plus and your friend is going too but she’s now come down with stomach bug as it’s happened very close to the day we were going poor thing she’s had to cancel and feels so guilty that I cannot go either and wants to give me the money for my wasted ticket, what would you do, I don’t think that’s necessary she can’t help being ill , what do others do in this situation

I'd go anyway. I'd see if anyone could use her ticket and ask if they could pay towards it (but no worries if they cant).

Just go on your own if you can’t find someone else who wants to go with you

Why can't you go? I'd try to sell her ticket or both tickets if you're not willing to go on your own and at least she might get a partial refund. Life is too short to make doing things you like contingent on others doing them with you.
