Children’s ENT waiting time - wtf

DS4 has been struggling with breathing at nighttime, loud snoring, sleeping with his mouth open, also day time breathing is affected, he’s breathing very very loud, numerous people have commented on that. He sounds permanently nasal with blocked nose. His tonsils are big.
Got GP referral for ENT specialist, today I found out from the clinic that the wait time is 12 months. 12 months to see a bloody children’s ENT specialist.
Has anyone really has waited that long? I’m just so frustrated and angry.

We waited 14 months! We were seen on a Sunday so I guess they are putting on extra clinics, but that sounds about right to me!

Adult ENT in our area are currently working through October 2023 referrals, god knows what the children’s waiting list is like.
Is private an option? Often after the initial private consultation they, if treatment needed, will stick you on the nhs list.

This is 10 years ago now but I paid for a private consultation with a dr who also works in the NHS. She added me to her list for an operation for adenoids and tonsils and we were seen within a few months. Consultation was around £150.
