Labour is extending FSM to all children on Universal Credit

That’s a positive move towards supporting children in poverty.

For many of DS early years in school I received WTC and earned below the threshold for FSM. However because I worked and received WTC we weren’t entitled. This was way before all infant school pupils receiving lunch for free too.

A farming family have just lost their father to suicide due to worries about inheritance tax.

So nothing at all to do with him caring for his wife who had cancer and dementia then?
No cries from you that social care is a mess and perhaps if he had had more help.... yet what did your party do? sacked 1000s of carers due to them refusing the covid vaccine.
Biggest impact to farm incomes was coming out of CAP.

He also took his life the day before the changes announced.

Using a tragedy like this for political purposes.....

Notonthestairs · 05/06/2025 07:30

Not just naughty, evil.

what was the purpose of calling children in care evil?
Was he suggesting withdrawal of care? A change in the council’s responsibilities - they can’t be held accountable for evil.
As said yesterday- what a moron.

I agree.

and the problem is - when people use a headline to prove a point and the facts come out that don’t back up your headline claim - rather than engaging people in a discussion you push people away.

Horrible piece of gammon that Reform councillor

Zia Yusuf says banning the burqa is not a Reform policy and calls Pochin 'dumb'

And Kemi Badenoch is going after the ECHR again, launching a review of a possible exit.

Mmm. Was it dumb? Zia Yusuf had best take care, I think

PandoraSocks · 05/06/2025 10:08

Apparantly Farage was discussing the dumb question on GB News. Good to see party unity. Keep it up, chaps.

Personally, I am against a ban. What would it achieve?

bombastix · 05/06/2025 10:12

I think Zia Yusuf will find, as many of his predecessors who were also Farage’s bag carrier did, that a useful divisive issue will always take precedence over any subtlety of policy.

Indeed. Maybe we will be on chairman no. ? very soon.

bombastix · 05/06/2025 10:23

The idea that Sarah Pochin did that question without Farage’s approval is laughable. Yusuf will be replaced, as Ben Habib was

BIossomtoes · 05/06/2025 10:25

They’re going to run out of replacements soon.

DuncinToffee · 05/06/2025 10:30

🚨 Reform row, a timeline:

— New MP Sarah Pochin calls for burka ban at PMQs
— Lee Anderson states his support
— Reform spokesperson say ban “not party policy”
— Nigel Farage on GB News: “No one should be allowed to hide their identity in public.”
— Reform chair Zia Yusuf labels stance “dumb”

As bombastix says, she didn't ask that question without Nige's approval

The Hamilton by-election is today

I have noticed there has been a spate of less than genuine posts and threads about asylum seekers in the past couple of days.

Mumsnet HQ is doing a good job of zapping them, but why the sudden uptick?

"Everyone is talking about immigration" ....

DuncinToffee · 05/06/2025 11:05

Did I say immigration ?

I meant pop music.

I'm beginning to wonder why Liz Truss doesn't just join Reform and be done with it.

I don’t imagine they want her, she’s a complete liability.

I was publicising a story. A story which will no doubt be replicated over the next few years. Keir Starmer declared pre election that he would protect the family farm. I don’t expect discussion on here. Just blind agreement that the Labour government are the greatest thing since sliced bread. I think most people in the country are completely disillusioned with politicians.

Have you actually been reading any of these threads @derxa?

If you think that, you’re not even reading the posts. There’s been plenty of criticism of this government and disappointment with it. What isn’t tolerated is twisting tragic cases and emotional manipulation to support your narrative.

I’m really reluctant to say this because it’s not in the spirit of the threads but I really don’t understand why you choose to post on a series of threads that are so alien to your views.

BIWI · 05/06/2025 11:55

Agree.

PandoraSocks · 05/06/2025 11:59

I am almost embarrassed for you @derxa Seriously.

You clearly don't bother reading the actual threads. You just plop in to tell us off. Or worse.
