What's having a spray tan like?

I've got so many questions! I've never had one, but I want one for an upcoming holiday.

Do I need to do any prep? Exfoliate? Moisturise?

I wear contact lenses. Do you just close your eyes?

What do you do with your hair? Shall I put it up in a bun?

I presume I shouldn't wear any makeup?

Do you wear knickers while being sprayed? Bra?

Does it leave like a top colour on your skin that you shower off, and the proper colour develops underneath?

What shall I wear to go home in? Will it stain my clothes?

I read that you should go home in open-toe sandals. Why do they need to be open toe?

When can I shower afterwards?

Will it stain my bedclothes? Do I need to wear pyjamas that first night?

Does it fade fairly evenly?

Is there anything else I forgot to ask?? !

I haven't had one for years, but from memory:

-shave/exfoliate the night before
-no moisturiser or make-up
-hair up and they usually give you a shower cap
-Eyes closed from memory (I don't recall getting any protective glasses)
-I vaguely think I was given disposable knickers, but some give you the option of being naked. You could wear your own swimwear/underwear, but yes, I think it would stain it.
-You usually stand inside a black booth thing, similar to a pop up changing rom
-The spray liquid can be cold at first
-Generally, you are asked to 'lift you left arm up, now down, lift your right arm up now down, now turn to the side, move your left leg forward' and they spray each limb/area.

You wait till its all dried, then get dressed. I'd wear old clothes incase there is any staining and also use an old sheet on your bed.

I don't know about the open toed thing, or if you shower when home?

I generally felt like an oompa loompa the first day, loved day 2-4 and then think it gradually faded. You could top up with some tinted moisturiser though like this https://www.superdrug.com/skin/fake-tan-bronzing/gradual-fake-tan/garnier-summer-body-light-gradual-tan-moisturiser-400ml/p/247820?gQT=1

Thanks so much for your detailed reply!! Good to know about the oompa loompa effect - I'll book it a couple of days out in that case.

Advice above is spot on, but deffo take loose dark clothes to wear afterwards, no bra, and don't sling a handbag over your shoulder either!

It's also worth chucking an old towel or sheet on your car seat if you wear shorts.

I have tan pants - black knickers that are specifically for my tan night.

They will talk you through all the poses and keep you right. My girl uses feet stickies but I usually just pop on crocs after as I cant drive in flip flops!

It depends on what tan your person uses but they will advise when to shower, and in this shower, just rinse away until water is clear, no harsh soaps and deffo not Dove!
