As an antidote to my other thread, which songs do you unapologetically love?
(Would be interesting to see if there are any overlaps between the two threads!)

For me, the cheesiest of Cheeseness is Careless Whisper 😍
and its seasonal twin Last Christmas 👌🏻

On The Bible - by Deuce

Elderflower14 · 18/05/2025 20:40

Shiny Happy People by REM.
My Wilf is profoundly deaf. When he was six years old I bought Out Of Time on CD. Wilf was in his bedroom above the sitting room. I put SHP on at full volume. Wilf felt the vibrations through the floorboards.. He came running downstairs and started dancing to the music. Cue lots of happy tears.
A few years later I was on R2 with the late Johnnie Walker and I picked SHP as one of my songs and told Johnnie the story.

Love the Shining Happy People story ❤️ it’s a great song, and Michael Stipe sung it on Sesame Street as Shiny Happy Monsters.

I love most cheesy 80s music.. I can’t listen to Erasure and be in a bad mood :)

Apparently MS hates it now and wouldn't have it on the Greatest Hits album.. 😔 😔

That’s lovely @Elderflower14 , does Wilf still like it?

I also like Rick Astley Never Gonna Give You Up 😂
