Are there any PGL equivalents?

Looking for some advice.

Husband is due to go in for a major operation, likely to be May half term. The hospital is 2hrs drive away, and obviously he can't drive himself.

We don't have family that are particularly helpful. I asked mum if she could take the kids out (10 & 8) one of the days to help and she commented she has something on everyday (eyelashes, nails, hair, gardening!!!). She did say if the op is that week they can stay, but they'll 'have to occupy themselves while they do the gardening?!

All my friends work full time and live far away so unable to help.

Just wondering what our options could be. Looked into PGL as I have fond memories of going on one as a kid...but they're a long way from us. Does anyone know of an alternative that they'd recommend that does residential holiday camps that may still have space end of May?!

TIA

We had this same situation. I booked an air b n b close to the hospital, kids came with me while I dropped hubby off, then we had a few hours activity (actually went swimming), back to see hubby when he woke up, stayed a few hours (took switch to keep kids occupied), then back to air b n b. Rinse and repeat until hubby was discharged and went home together. He was only in two nights though. Hospital staff were lovely bringing the kids hot chocolates and generally being welcoming to them.

You might need to tell people where you are (roughly) if you want helpful answers. Pgl are probably the most widespread but there’ll be other options in parts of the country.
