Why do I do this. Worry about what others think.

A few weeks ago DH and I were invited for lunch today to celebrate a big birthday.
There will be 15 at the table. We are all related. (Cousins on DH side) Known everyone for over 45 years.
I thought of my outfit. Navy blue dress always feel comfortable in it.
Speaking to one cousin earlier and she is going in shorts as it's too hot for dressing up. Now I'm not sure about the dress.
Will be getting in the shower soon then have to look in my wardrobe.
I'm a fool in caring what anyone else thinks of my outfit.

Wear what you feel comfortable in. It’s 15 degrees here, which I wouldn’t regard as either hot, or shorts weather. If you’re not sure about the dress, what about trousers- wide leg and a smartish top.

What happens if you turn up in shorts and she is in a comfortable dress? Changed her mind so will that ruin your day? Just wear what you want.

I would wear what I'm most comfortable in.
I don't see how wearing a dress, unless it's to your ankles, is any less cool than wearing a pair of shorts.
Presumably the person wearing the shorts is wearing a top with them?
It's really down to the material, some fabrics hold the heat in and it doesn't matter how short they are if the core of your body is too warm it's not comfortable.
The only other thing about wearing shorts is that it sounds to be more casual than wearing a dress, but again it's all about the length of each, the style, and the material.

Just got back from the meal. Why I worry is anyone's guess.
I wore a lovely light blue top with white pants.
Not over or under dressed.
