Ever had a house party like this?

Watching 'The Game' on Channel 5 where Robson Greens character holds a house warming party. Music is playing and people are stood around mingling and dancing. I've been to parties in houses but its never had nightclub vibes, does anyone party like that in real life!?!

Parties I've been to usually involve everyone sat down talking, no music and not teally stood up unless doing something like getting a drink or food or playing a game.

Our parties always have people standing (just because we never have enough seats!) and always music. As the night goes on and people get more merry we may dance - depends on who is left :) Lighting is always pretty dark so it never seems awkward.

Yes, been to and held loads of parties with everyone dancing! Helps if you have 'party' lighting and plan some good music (and lots of drinks 😂)!

Gregsprinkles · 17/05/2025 20:06

Why would you not play music at a party? 🤔

Bicog · 17/05/2025 20:06

What you describe is more of a dinner party/get together than a house party.

Music is key to the party - and would never expect anyone to sit down (unless a medical need).
Lighting is largely low/ambient - because everyone looks better in low lighting.
As with all parties... there is a music group and a kitchen group (who can also be music inspired- but different music).
Not seen the programme, so cannot speak specifically, but that sounds like a party to me

My house. We always have music and sometimes disco lights, me and my friends love a kitchen disco.

JellyStarb · 17/05/2025 20:31

Cool, I'd love to host or go to a party like that! Youre right, the houses we've gone to have not had low lighting but its probably the type of people congregated too.

Yes lots of parties with drinking and dancing! Often with friends on the decks.

Not always, it’s clear if it is ‘just’ a bbq or dinner.

My house parties are rather tame these days; girls (sorry, women!) round on a Saturday afternoon for wine etc.

My worst party was one 25 years ago for my ex's 30th. It started off great but descended into chaos and the police and ambulances turned up (I still have nightmares about it)

a music group and a kitchen group

Yes! 😂
