SKIN - what facial treatment has made the biggest improvement to your skin?

no serums or creams…

i’m obsessed my skin, I spend more on my face than I do on clothes these days!

Anyway, Polynucleotides, the salmon sperm skin booster has made the biggest difference for me. I’ve done Profhilo and microneedling and do regular lasers, but this has given me better results. I did a course of 3 last year, then another in February before my lip flip surgery. The improvement to my skin has been incredible. I can’t believe how more hydrated, clear and glowy my skin is, also less fine lines, so happy!

The only downside is I look a bit pricked

for a couple of days after but it’s worth it

Feel free to share your best skin treatment thanks

Do you have a link or more info on the product you mentioned?

oversizedblazer · 17/05/2025 07:57

@librathroughandthrough there are loads of different polynucleotide brands out there but I had Vitarin II which is suitable for face and eyes, it took a few weeks before I saw any difference after the first session, but my skin just kept improving over time.

Honestly, the very best treatment for one’s skin is sunscreen daily and washing one’s face with a cream cleanser - any kind - and damp flannel. Spending money on anything else, unless you have something like roseacea, is a waste of time and money.

This!!!! I use this by medik8 and it’s really changed the texture of my skin (I use number 10). One tube lasts me about 4 months as you only use a little.

also microneedling, chemical peels and botox!
but the cream above has changed the game

Salmon sperm?

ChurlishTo · 17/05/2025 22:21

Under eye polynucleotides and SQT bio micro needling - the results have been incredible from the first treatment. It’s not micro needling with an actual needle, it’s a product applied to the skin containing spiky sponge spicules, so it does feel a bit like needles.

My recent amazing thing has been taking collagen supplements. If you're interested in this, there's a great thread in S&B. After only a few weeks I now no longer need all the serums, "slugging", etc., skin feels so hydrated!

Foolsgold74 · 17/05/2025 22:31

Botox.

spicemaiden · 17/05/2025 22:32

Hylauronic acid.

Wexone · 17/05/2025 22:33

micro needling amazing on my skin. my pigmentation and scars drastically reduced. been very good with serum and spf on my face since. also had a fat freezing treatment on my double chin. halved in size. am looking at polyneiticals soon and want something to treat my endo belly fed up looking pregnant

bigbreakfastclub · 17/05/2025 22:35

For a 60 something eye filler had made a massive difference, it filled my hollows made me feel better.

What is slugging?

What is slugging?

“Slugging” is a well-known moisturizing technique that involves slathering the face with an occlusive product as the last step in your evening skincare routine. This skincare trend gets its name from the “slug-like” sheen it leaves on your skin after applying your slugging product of choice.

The bold isn't mine. Basically I used to go to bed like this every night and do a similar version before applying make up in the morning. It did give such positive results in that my face felt soft and not flaky or patchy, but I couldn't go without it.

Ooooo...thank you! Just stopped breastfeeding so I'll be back on it! Wondered why I had aged 10 years in 7 months (I mean besides the sleep deprivation)

Is there any good on 50-year-old skin that’s prone to rosacea? I’m not having a flare at the moment in fact it is the best it’s ever been because I’ve been using lots of niacinamide and hyaluronic acid et cetera et cetera and I’ve heard that retinol can be good we have to be really careful with it.

My rosacea disappeared after I gave up gluten. I tried it for a couple of days and haven't looked back! That must be about three years ago, and although I can tolerate 'proper' sourdough I've pretty much avoided gluten since then and my rosacea has gone.

How does it differ to regular retinol @Jetsettermum?

The price mainly!!! I'm not sure on the science exactly but it's something about the delivery system. I've never used a better product than it tho...its just v v expensive.

husband is already off gluten due to allergy his whole life no affect what so ever on his roscae.what has worked is holos Anti back spray every day, wash with sensitive cleaners and moisturiser after uses a serum aswell as spf every single day no matter what. the spray is excellent as it kills the bacteria on his skin. every so often he has a flare up like once in 2 years but that is due to stress we have ongoing at mo so he uses a steroid cream on prescription. roscaea is a bacteria that grows on your skin you need to keep it clean and use spf all the time

It's not true to say that "rosacea is a bacteria that grows on your skin" ; but it could be caused by your body's overactive immune response to a bacteria that grows on your skin. Google says it's thought to be a combination of that and genetic factors. Also can be triggered by the body's response to alcohol and spicy food.
I was just trying to help. I tried going gluten free because I was getting stomach ache after eating biscuits and pastry ( and it solved that, although I also think sugar is a factor). Anyway, my rosacea disappearing was just a fortunate consequence. I'm sorry your DH has such a problem with his.

Cutting down as much as possible on ultra processed foods has made an extraordinary difference to my skin.
I’m 75 for context.

slamdunk66 · 18/05/2025 14:04

I love a hydra facial for an instant skin glow but longer term treatments like BBL and Moxi (laser treatments) have been great for my skin.
