Can I ask post office to witness my signature (mortgage deed)

Desperate londoner in need of someone to witness my signature.
No friends or colleagues I can ask under short notice :(
I tried asking my neighbours but they didn’t understand and shut the door on me (English isn’t their first language tbf).

would it be acceptable for me to ask staff at the post office?

Lawyer here.

yes, they don’t need to be of a certain standing etc.

just remember to include their name and address. I’d put their profession for good measure too

Oh, and probably irrelevant, but check they’re over 18

Yeah that’s fine for a mortgage deed.
