Bra solutions for young women with a fuller bust ??

I'm helping DD (older teenager) find a dress and we need bra/boob tape/other magic underwear solutions for someone with a larger bust so she might be able to wear a dress that looks more suited to her age than my age!

I’m really sorry oP I don’t have much wisdom on how to go about this.

But am posting with a bit of “ in hindsight” wisdom which is if I could speak to my younger self and friends, I would say always go for the dress that suits and flatters your own build/ colouring etc, rather than what’s in vogue or the others are wearing. We were looking back over some youthful night out photos and several examples made us all react this way. It’s very easy to get lost in the fashion moment and see it through rose tinted glasses!

Try bravissimo. Lots of styles for DD and above with narrow backs including multi way straps. Not cheap but great fit.

Thank you. I do understand your point. My question has been prompted by seeing lots of young women model the clothes they are selling on Vinted and I see a lot who have fuller busts and they look amazing in what they are wearing but they certainly aren't wearing a regular bra. I'd just like DD to have that option if that is what she wants.

Yes understood!

Go to marks and Spencer and get her fitted. Explain what you’re looking for (strapless) and show them the style of dress, and they will have something that suits.

I respectfully disagree. I was a short and curvy teen and I spent way too much mental energy on 'flattering'. I played it way too safe. I have teenage daughters and if they like something and feel comfortable in it then I 100% support them to wear what they want.

Weirdaf1 · 16/05/2025 17:04

On the bra question dd has some good ones from M&S although I do recommend measuring her at home and doing lots of trying on in store. While the bras are good some stores measuring isn't great.

Hubblebubble · 16/05/2025 17:06

I remember getting a bra with invisible (see through/clear) straps for my prom as an Ecup

JDM625 · 16/05/2025 17:06

OP, can you clarify what she specifically needs? Strapless, a very low back, a plunge front, 1 shoulder option? Is there a specific dress she it aiming to wear?

IMO breast tape/sticky lift things are only useful if a very pert A, max B cup, in which case, you might get away with no bra at all!

Triptothepark · 16/05/2025 17:10

I second Bravissimo.

reluctantbrit · 16/05/2025 17:29

Bravissimo.
M&S - it really depends on your store, I found several useless for teen DD who wears 32E.

You can also look at strapless basque corsets but the dress need a decent lined top as you can see otherwise the bones.

I wore one for a black tie event and it also give an amazing figure.

MoodSwingSet · 16/05/2025 18:09

Do you mean you're looking for a strapless bra, or multiway? I would also suggest a trip to Bravissimo. Not M&S, she will come out wearing an ill-fitting 34B, no matter what size she really is.

KvotheTheBloodless · 16/05/2025 18:12

Is she a bigger girl as well as blessed in the boob department? As that will influence which bra styles might be more flattering and work best under a dress.

Wasvular · 16/05/2025 18:14

M&S don’t fit bras properly, they use the old plus4 method. Bravissimo will be a much better fit, especially for a larger bust

Pickledpeanuts · 16/05/2025 18:20

I'd always avoid m&s, instead bravissimo or maybe boux avenue depending on her size.
What kind of style of dress is it?
If it's an occasion dress, having cups sewn in can be something to consider.

Mingenious · 16/05/2025 18:45

I’ve got massive tits and I always wear Asda bras. They do some fantastic plain t shirt bras that are my go to and they come in some nice colours. They’re also cheap, and comfortable.

Soundofshuna · 16/05/2025 18:48

How about a stick on bra? They have no back. Not sure they wouldn’t stand up
to vigorous dancing but look great under a backless dress

gcsesargh · 16/05/2025 18:50

Definitely try Bravissimo. DD got a really good strapless bra there having worn the wrong size for ages. The assistants were really nice and helpful.

Aparecium · 16/05/2025 19:00

100% Bravissimo.

I took my teen dd (32DD/E) there. Unhappy, overwhelmed, bashful, underwire-resistant when she went in. Confident and comfortable when she came out. And a convert both to underwired bras and to spending a bit more to get really good support.

The fitters are sensitive, patient and knowledgeable, and the range of bras is excellent.

Fenwicks and John Lewis are also very good. But for a teenage girl learning to get on with bras, I'd definitely start at Bravissimo until she understands what her body needs to keep her comfortable.

Daisyvodka · 16/05/2025 19:02

Boux Avenue or Pour Moi - also it's worth discussing with your daughter that a LOT of the bigger busted people we see modelling skimpy clothes have had boob jobs so they only need a bit of wrangling to stay in place. Wish someone had told me that at her age. Or maybe it would have made me want a boob job? Absolutely minefield isn't it.
I also agree with a PP, i also spent my teenage years and 20s going with 'flattering' and played it safe due to hiding bra straps. Really wish I'd not done that now, I've always loved fashion and it really held me back

MadKittenWoman · 16/05/2025 19:08

Bravissimo, Fantasie, Freya. Make sure she understands that she probably needs a smaller back size and a larger cup. Get her fitted at Bravissimo or John Lewis- avoid M & S! I’m a 30G and have no issues. Once she knows what her size is, she can look on eBay in the future to keep the costs down. I also recommend the Wonderbra strapless.

Picklechicken · 16/05/2025 19:24

How old is she? I’m asking because my dd is 21 and none of her friends - even the very large boobed ones - wear proper bras. It just doesn’t seem to be a thing amongst their age group anymore. I’m not suggesting your dd shouldn’t wear one if she wants to (and you’ve had lots of good suggestions already) but it may be that actually it’s fine not to wear one. I went to dds graduation (Nottingham university) this summer just gone and there were a lot of strappy dresses and lots of unsupported over exposed boobs! I know that sounds weird but I don’t mean it to - I’m a 36GG myself and just find it so interesting how times change!

Go anywhere but M&S they have no clue how to for for a bra.
