Bra solutions for young women with a fuller bust ??

I'm helping DD (older teenager) find a dress and we need bra/boob tape/other magic underwear solutions for someone with a larger bust so she might be able to wear a dress that looks more suited to her age than my age!

Once you’re sure of her size I really recommend M&S for having the biggest range of non-matronly bras for larger cup sizes, lots of colours and designs and also well priced. They also have good strapless / multi-way bras.

I’ve not bothered to shop M&S bras for years but the only ones I’ve ever seen stocked in my size are the hideous matronly ones, or mastectomy bras. I’m a 32HH. Actually, I’ve just looked, there isn’t a single M&S own brand bra on their website in my size. I’ve never found M&S to be at all size inclusive for smaller back larger cup sizes.

Christ your poor kid

Why? She’s perfectly happy with her body.

I presume @Bechange997‘s comment was about the PP’s daughter’s bra size being G/FF. Unfortunately there’s still a misconception that a D cup is a huge ‘fuller bust’ and anything over is the size of a gargantuan wooly mammoth.

I think you’re probably right. It was my original comment about my dd. I’m
a 32HH, she’s a 28FF/30G. She is beautifully in proportion and looks anything but gargantuan! 😬

My life changed for the better after my first visit to Righy & Peller

cannot recommend too highly. I went for a teenager desperately embarrassed and crouched over to feeling comfortable in my skin. Totally worth a day trip to London and a days annual leave. Enjoy.

Sorry but they’re like a hundred quid a bra. Not a chance.

pretty sure the recommendation was not personally for you. OP may be able to afford it.

For a teenager who will likely switch sizes as they grow I doubt it

Oceangrey · 17/05/2025 22:50

Bravissimo and Curvy Kate. Curvy Kate have some younger styles which might be what your looking for. You can buy various stick on bras now for large sizes too but I haven't tried them personally.

Boux avenue has lovely bras for larger cup sizes that are great for teens.

Absolutely don’t do this. M and S are notorious for abysmal bra fitting. Told me I was a 36c in y early 20s when I was actually a 30 e. Years of ill fitting bra misery. Rigby and Peller or Bravissimo.

I went to M&S years ago with my 6’2 sporty muscular niece & my 5 foot teeny petite sister for a bra fitting. The 3 of us were measured as 36C. Ridiculous.

Clearly they had an overstock of 36C that day. The years I spent in my ill-fitting 34DD as a teenager when I was 30G and in correct size, suddenty didn't need to hoik up the bra and constantly stuff boobs back into the cups any more.

Marks seem to have weird sizes all of their own. I am a standard 32 H in bravissimo, curvy Kate pour moi etc and can buy without trying. Marks 32h is only 29 round and the 34 is not 32 either, they are so small. Go somewhere with a large range and let get try them on us your best bet. Trying mail-order if you don't know the size is a losing battle. Or go on One of the catalogue sites and order a range. Sounds like you are looking for a multi way she can adapt to various necklines.

Is that stretched or unstrerched though?
Bras are made of stretchy fabrics these days, so should measure smaller than the band size when in their 'natural' form. It's why you shouldn't need to add 4" to your under-bust measurement to get your correct band size.

OP, can you clarify what she specifically needs? Strapless, a very low back, a plunge front, 1 shoulder option? Is there a specific dress she it aiming to wear?

IMO breast tape/sticky lift things are only useful if a very pert A, max B cup, in which case, you might get away with no bra at all!

Yes, sure. Strapless but with straps that can be attached and changed around. Or boob tape options for larger busts. Does that work ever?

The dresses are thin straps and/or lower cut.

Thank you. We'll have a look. She has been measured before. Not at M&S. I think she might have gone up a size since though. We live nowhere near decent shops but will make sure she gets measured again next time we are in a city.

I wondered if there was something like that.

It's not in the budget now but certainly something I'd suggest to DD when she is older and working and a consistent size. I know it has been revolutionary for many women.

I'd echo Bravissimo. M&S are useless.
I would recommend balcony style bras they are quite flattering for younger figures and I think also getting a fun vibrant colour means that visible bra straps may not be such an issue for her. A specialist strapless could also work, boob tape etc literally does not do the job if you're over an E cup IMHO. So I'd steer away from that,

Thank you. This is good advice.

bra stop are quite good. my daughter is 17 and a 32g and we find all her bras on there and decent prices and brands

suburburban · 18/05/2025 13:54

such a shame Debenhams is no longer a store, they were good for Dds and John Lewis is good and Bravissimo. Something like Tango by Panache

FancyNewt · 18/05/2025 13:55

DD has a full bust and wears tape fairly regularly. She just buys the one with the best rating on Amazon. The only tops she struggles with are ones with very dainty and thin straps as they snap it she's not wearing a bra.

Oceangrey · 18/05/2025 18:10

Also - when I was younger and wore dresses with very thin straps, I used to sometimes sew the bra into the dress so that the dress straps were supporting it, and tuck in the actual bra straps.
