I know Eurovision is a bit marmite but I’ve offered last minute to host on Saturday night, just family and we all get on so no stress. Just wondered if anyone is properly going for it with food, drinks etc … and if I can steal your ideas!

Allocate people countries from which they bring food for a buffet.

Provide scoresheets and bingo cards

I have a party every year, we eat food from the country that is hosting this year we are having fondue and rosti. We then have a drink from each country as they perform.

the first time round was carnage as drinking a whole drink per song is quite an ask. Now we split the drinks between us to make it more manageable.

I am! Will print off a score sheet for everyone and planning Swiss themed nibbles (which doesn’t give much choice!) A bit outraged that Majestic don’t have ant Swiss wine. My friend hangs on to things, so will no doubt bring Union Jacks. DDs and I are planning sparkly outfits, but we don’t really need much of an excuse for that :-)

As it's Basel based a lean towards the Swiss German apero?

Little cheese pies (Chäschüechli), crispy pancakes and mushroom vol au vents are still popular here. Or perhaps a board of Swiss cheeses, dried meats and cornichons, pickles etc. The Swiss equivalent of sausage rolls is Wurstweggen, also a croissant like puff pastry with chopped bacon inside (Schinkengipfeli),and slices of Flammkuchen?

Or go all out with a raclette or fondue? 😂

I have a fondue set! I know there’s political debate going on in another thread but honestly this is just a bit of fun in our family. Now need sparkly outfits …

The BBC site has stuff you can print, like sweepstakes etc. Etsy has some good party things for it too

We're doing a Eurovision party! Food is going Robbe straightforward finger food, everyone brings something to share. House will be decorated with glitter and kitsch. I got some badges from the Eurovision website and a fridge magnet as a bingo prize. We'll have bingo cards and score sheets. 🥳
