Devilsmommy · 11/05/2025 22:28

18° in west midlands and I can't sleep either. I suffer with insomnia anyway but add heat and I've got no chance 😭

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 11/05/2025 22:48

Above 20 in London every day next week and into the week after 😪

The thing is, the nights! I can just about cope with hot days and cool nights, but its gonna be boiling for the foreseeable

Finteq · 11/05/2025 22:51

Luckily not too hot overnight here.

Still needing the heating on last night for a bit.

But hot during daylight. Northwest.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 11/05/2025 22:53

18 degrees here in Wiltshire at the moment
i overheat at the best of times but especially as I’m currently dog trapped by a snoring Westie

Toomanydogwalks · 11/05/2025 22:55

It’s hot but I’ve still got two duvets and a fleece on my bed. Cosy. Next door are running their air conditioning 😀

MotherOfRatios · 11/05/2025 22:57

I'm considering having a ceiling fan/light for this reason

If OP lives in a modern/new build flat in London it's usually unbearable when I did I was often quite ill from the heat.

11c where I am, always cool! but when I lived down south I had a portable air con unit and it was legitimately life changing Grin really recommend one, it came with some kind of Velcro set up so you could put the tube out the window via this Velcro curtain thing that attached to the window, but it was so cooling and I slept so well in summer.

LauraC1984 · 11/05/2025 23:11

Move to the North East! 18 here today but down to 6 overnight! 😂

ShiftySquirrel · 11/05/2025 23:13

I wash my feet in a cold shower just before bed when it's hot and that helps cool my whole body down.

My feet are freezing 90% of the time so when they're hot it's weirdly uncomfortable.

reluctantbrit · 11/05/2025 23:13

Sorry but it's ridiculous for mid-May

Ensure you close your curtains when the sun comes in, ensure you open all windows and doors.

Unless we have 40 degrees in London again it is possible to sleep.

I have 1/2 of the hous getting sun until lunchtine and 1/2 from ealy afternoon until evening. I manage with black out curtains, open windowns and open doors and light bedding.

Oh, and I am menopause and still can sleep.

I'm NW too. It's bloody boiling. 18° at the mo and not dropping much over the next few hours and then back to 25° tomorrow. Heating definitely not needed. Have got the fan on me in bed.

Middleagedstriker · 11/05/2025 23:24

Get trees planted near you! The large tree was cut outside our house a couple of years ago (against our wishes) and it has been i much hotter ever since. We have now got a small tree (which we had to pay for) growing ad can't wait for it to do it's job.

ChocolateMagnum · 11/05/2025 23:28

Have a cool bath and wet your hair before bed. Once you're in the bath, keep adding cold water. You want to cool your blood as much as you can. Then go to bed with cold damp hair and with a fan on. Honestly, it's the best thing EVER when is hot.

bibliotek · 11/05/2025 23:32

Eurgh. It’s way too warm. If this is May, Im
dreading June and July. It rain tonight and all I can think about is the mozzie which will follow…

Some of us hate the cold, not much sympathy then
