Like a bbq or a pub lunch, say about 12.30/1.00/2.00 do you then have dinner at about 6ish?

This is what cheese on toast was invented for. Hungry teens / teens just eat quite a lot of cheese on toast.

minnienono · 11/05/2025 15:32

Varies, cheese and biscuits usually

ThejoyofNC · 11/05/2025 15:47

Yes because I'm a normal person who eats 3 meals a day.

I don't know anyone who would be satisfied eating at 1:00 and then being done for the day. Just another competitive under eating thread.

Depends if I'm hungry or not.

Is this not the obvious answer?

Sorry for starting a conversation on a public forum !

Yes, I would, unless I'd had lunch at about 3pm and / or eaten absolutely loads

WomenInSTEM · 11/05/2025 15:49

If we go out for a big lunch we usually have something like tea and toast, porridge or some fruit.

BCBird · 11/05/2025 15:53

At a bbq, I think u eat more than normal. I'd probably have some fruit in evening or cereal.

wisteriadrive · 11/05/2025 15:55

Here’s another question why do you eat a burger and hotdog and then stuffed?!
I’ve made a lovely salad and slaw and can barely eat anymore 😫

Depends if people are hungry or not. We don’t eat dinner until 8ish anyway so everyone would probably be peckish by then. DH will cook whatever people fancy at that time.

maddiemookins16mum · 11/05/2025 15:57

No. We wouldn’t tend to have two ‘big’ meals a day. Would probably have a ‘lunch type’ thing in the evening, cheese on toast or a bacon sandwich for example.

PoppyBaxter · 11/05/2025 15:57

Unlikely these days.

I had a large seaside fish n chips yesterday, followed by an ice cream, at about 1pm.

I purposefully didn't have dinner and just felt the hunger pangs kick in at 9pm-ish.

I used to be able to eat 2 big meals a day, but now I'm in my 40s I don't need it, and my digestive system suffers if I'm too overloaded.

In 2020, with the kids suddenly at home all the time, meals looked likely to dominate my time and energy. I decided then I would prepare the main meal every day and everybody could help themselves for the rest. That was with kids aged 10 and up. I recommend it!

Well there's your meal for this evening then! Prepped and ready to go. Nice one!

BountifulPantry · 11/05/2025 16:04

Yeah I’d have something small like a sandwich and fruit or soup and a roll.

suah · 11/05/2025 16:39

It would be unusual for us to have dinner before 7 regardless of what we had for lunch, but I wouldn’t be cooking a full meal after a bbq no. Leftovers or something low effort.

HeartyOchreHelper · 11/05/2025 16:41

Sometimes freezer tapas, eg. bhajis, samosas, potato skins, gyozas, chicken tenders.

Or maybe cheese and biscuits or cereal or something.
