Witness to a drug deal. Have reg number. Report?

DameDoggieDoo · 11/05/2025 11:41

I witnessed a very blatant drug deal yesterday between a random car and a neighbour who I know to use recreational drugs. It took place right outside my house. I noted the dealers car registration plate.

Should I report it to the police? (I don't mean reporting the neighbour, I mean tipping the police off that reg plate XXXXX belongs to a drug dealer).

No. It's none of your business and you have no right to judge.

justkeepswimingswiming · 11/05/2025 14:38

Depends on the drug.

a bit of weed? No I wouldn’t bother.

Heroin then yes.

My head is perfectly round it all thanks, so you can lose the sarcasm. Report it or not. Just stop moaning!

Anyone else imagining this being said by a really bossy bowling ball? Somehow also wagging a foam finger.

Think what you like, it’s all a question of the sort of society you want to live in. I would rather wave a foam finger than be party to blatant criminality. But I guess it all depends on the sort of person you are, doesn’t it?

I understand it perfectly well. I have worked with it. I have studied it academically. I have used it, as a consumer and as a stakeholder. I have publicly criticised and complained about it when required. I am aware of its achievements and its shortcomings.

If you know so much and are so aware of the shortcomings of the police as an institution, why ask the PP if they have “met every police officer”? What a ridiculous response to a (valid) critique of the force.

Hang on a minute. I didn’t make the original sweeping statement. I responded to it.

You aren’t challenging me 😂

She also uses her foam finger to dial 999 at the slightest inconvenience.

Velmy · 11/05/2025 14:58

You have no proof that a 'drug deal' has taken place.

Mind your own business.

No. Stay away and forget about it.

IDontHateRainbows · 11/05/2025 15:02

I think police concentrate their efforts on the big boys at the top now not the street retailers. I have heard they won't get involved at the lower end as it can lead to gang warfare if they take a dealer out thus creating some territory for gangs to fight over which the police see as an unnecessary headache. It's practically de criminalized at the footsoldier level.

So you don’t understand the police as an institution? Either you do understand and therefore know that the PP’s comment wasn’t a “sweeping statement”, or you don’t understand and therefore think the PP was talking about police as individual people. It can’t be both.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 11/05/2025 15:07

Unless there were large amounts of drugs involved I doubt the police would care, the person driving around delivering the drugs is unlikely to be at the source of the operation, they’ll just be the runner, so it’s probably not worth them going after the driver. Personally I wouldn’t risk reporting it just in case it gets back to you somehow.

greatvisuals · 11/05/2025 15:10

I do report every time I see this around the area I live. Probably reported 2 or 3 deals in the last year. It's anonymous - no one knows it was you. Car reg and locations are hugely useful to the police trying to crack county lines. They aren't after the buyer - they follow the sellers to lead them back to the big guys.

A local county lines was cracked recently and a dozen people arrested. I like to think my info helped a tiny bit.

I am not sure where you are going with this, or why you are trying to engineer some sort of bizarre ‘gotcha’. The poster made a sweeping statement. I responded. Thats it. If you want to take issue with something, how about having a look at the various insults and names that have been thrown my way for daring to have a different opinion.

And this is why crime is rising and becoming more blatant

Have you ever tried to report something? A house I know well was being cuckcooed. It was reported and everytime the police came nearly everything had been moved. In fact it became a running joke that when there was a lot of movement the police would appear in the next 30 minutes. It was almost as if they were being tipped off.

It's not pleasant when your house & car are being attacked because they think you've reported them. Even if you haven't. There's constant harassment.

Here's a novel idea have a go at the people using the drugs because if they was no demand it wouldn't be growing.

The street that cuckoo house was on there's been guns, knives machete attacks amongst other things.

A friend threatened to report a drug dealer to the police, he shoved the phone in her face and said here they are on speed dial. He got away with so much even when he was caught we'd joke if we ever ended up in trouble we'd seek out his defence lawyer.

SingtotheCat · 11/05/2025 15:12

Jeezitneverends · 11/05/2025 11:45

I’d report it via crime stoppers. There won’t be any immediate raids on houses as a result, it’ll be added to intelligence

This.

Poppyyoutwat · 11/05/2025 15:13

Leave it, police won’t care (I live with two officers).

We have loads round here (shithole), they are easy to spot.

MammaTo · 11/05/2025 15:14

No I wouldn’t report it.

Well no, it’s because of the people committing the crimes.
