Would you claim csa after 15 years?

Would you claim csa in the situation. Dd is coming up 15. There has not been any contact with her father since i was pregnant. She has never met him.

He is married with a child. I wouldn't want to course any upset .

Dd tried to contact him via Facebook 3 times over the past year. No reply.

OP posts:
NewMrsF · 11/05/2025 19:42

She didn’t say any of those things people are assuming so why jump to the worst conclusion?
he might have been married or not know about the daughter but it’s madness to jump to that when she hasn’t given any indication that that’s the situation.

SavannahBananas · 11/05/2025 19:42

Boreded · 11/05/2025 19:35

Because she didn’t want to let him know there was a baby. Robbed him of his time with her, and now wants to claim money from him but doesn’t want to cause upset.

And to op, (if he was already married then) he shouldn’t have cheated but you shouldn’t have kept his child from him…but I wouldn’t expect much if did you slept with a married man

Edited

Quite an assumption. Care to tell us how you have so much insight into this situation?

Jesus Christ some of you need to work on your reading comprehension 😂
nowhere did she say she was an affair baby.
nowhere did she say he didn’t know about her.

I think you are referring to me, and if so, I have said IF he was married then.

you’ll also find that through her series of posts that she hasn’t spoken to him since getting pregnant, so it is more likely that he doesn’t know about it than that he does. If he did know about her he would have either wanted contact, or rejected the OP in which case she would of course go for CSA at the time. Instead the OP has chosen, as she is fully entitled to do, to keep the baby and raise it herself, but if you do that and don’t allow the sperm donor (because this is all he was) a chance to have a relationship with his child, then you have absolutely zero right to claim money for the child. That’s like stealing someone’s car and expecting them to continue to pay the lease on it for you.

NewMrsF · 11/05/2025 19:45

It wasn’t just you.

but that’s still a stretch.
not everyone goes straight to CSA because the waste ‘dad’ had rejected the kid. I didn’t

It’s not that much of an assumption, it is quite a logical conclusion given the OPs post and replies to others.

She didn’t speak to him since getting pregnant, so don’t think that he knew about the child?

Let’s wait for @101hiccups to come back and confirm whether he knew he had a child or not…I’ll give you a big hint, he didn’t

Do you deserve it if you bedded a man who was married with a kid

Why don’t you read the post carefully and use critical thinking skills before making such a nasty judgement?

Did you wait 15 years though?

it’s ok not to go for CSA, I actually on one thread recommended that someone say they did terminate (ex bastard had told her she should) and raise the baby alone rather than have a custody battle with an abusive ex, as the lady was concerned that in her 40s she may otherwise never conceive. But in that case I advocated for no CSA as no parental involvement.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 11/05/2025 19:48

Why haven’t you claimed it before?

3awesomestars · 11/05/2025 19:51

Yes, it’s 15 years too late but better late than never. Every father should pay to support their children whatever the circumstances.

3peassuit · 11/05/2025 19:53

It’s money you and your child are owed and entitled to. Contact cms and start a claim.

PinkyFlamingo · 11/05/2025 19:55

Bit why on earth did t you claim earlier? So what if it causes "upset"

blubbyblub · 11/05/2025 19:57

peeweehill · 10/05/2025 16:07

Sorry op what is csa.
If its child maintenance tbvh no i would not bother with it you dont need his pity money.
You done a good job so far and what your child has you have got it for her.
He can never say he did this or that i paid for that i gave you money for this that and the other.
YOU did it YOU paid YOU raised her.
He missed out and will continue to miss out.
Dont go chasing a man to be a dad or for anything when he didnt want to be around in the first place he`s not worth the time.
A few more years she will be an adult and you can say you did that without him.

But it’s not about the OP It’s about the child.

Mymanyellow · 11/05/2025 19:58

Will it be backdated? I would, I would have done from the start.

SouthLondonMum22 · 11/05/2025 19:59

You should've done it 15 years ago. Your daughter is entitled to that money and she's missed out on the majority of it.

Mymanyellow · 11/05/2025 19:58

Sadly you can’t backdate it, the claim starts from the day you put it in the system.

A) that’s some massive assumption
B) IT’S NOT FOR HER. ITS FOR THE CHILD.

Good god how many times are people going to bang on about the mother deserving or not deserving money. It’s the child that deserves financial support.

TryingToBeHelpful267 · 11/05/2025 20:00

Claim it. Don’t worry about causing upset, he doesn’t care about the upset he’s causing your child by not replying.

He might ask for a dna though as I’m guessing he’s not in the birth certificate.

Oh these wicked wicked women who overpower innocent men, drag them kicking and screaming into their beds and force them to have unprotected sex with them just because they want to get pregnant and then, to add insult to injury, completely ignore them socially, emotionally and financially for 15 years.

Bad women, bad, bad women 😐

nowhere did she say she was an affair baby.
nowhere did she say he didn’t know about her.

And also to be pedantic there is no proof that "You done a good job so far". I mean, the OP is probably a great mum but none of us know whether she is or not.

NewMrsF · 11/05/2025 20:03

I waited 10 years to claim. I didn’t want anything to do with the man and was just relieved he wasn’t in our lives any more so didn’t want to think about it. But then figured at least it’s a little money in my son’s savings so why not now

NewMrsF · 11/05/2025 20:04

It wasn’t me that said that so…..

Agreed. It's happening more and more or maybe I'm reading the wrong threads 😁.
At least do @101hiccups the courtesy of reading her post properly.
OP should try and get some recognition for her daughter.

That logic ain’t gonna get you anywhere. OP go for it, and put it in a high interest savings account / ISA for your DD. She will be grateful especially if she’s thinking about uni in a few years. Leave ego and emotion out of it xx

ThejoyofNC · 11/05/2025 20:14

Who on earth besides take a break style magazines, uses the word "bedded"?

Thisisittheapocalypse · 11/05/2025 20:17

I would. Put it all away for her future higher education needs if you can live without it.
