How’s Your Friday Evening Going?

Was planning to go to an out of town shopping centre with DH but feeling a bit under the weather plus had a run in with DD16 earlier. We’ll probably go tomorrow instead. KFC for tea. Lovely weather here. If I was feeling better I’d go & watch the sunset over the sea. I have an app that checks for aurora activity so will have a peek at that. Going to order an I Phone 15 in a min.

Sat in front of the TV now - watching the news! Have spent the afternoon in the garden doing various jobs in between cups of coffee or iced water and sunbathing. Just had our tea -Steak, chips and Salad.
Need to find something else to watch now that Beyond Paradise is finished but will probably watch Monty and Co and Beechgrove.

Lovely here.
Just waved off grandchildren. Husband cooking dinner and I'm in the garden in the evening sunshine drinking a glass of pink.
Happy weekend everyone!

LilDeVille · 09/05/2025 19:11

Shit. I haven’t been alone for months. DH is out with the 2 older kids, DD fell asleep early and of COURSE woke up the second the rest left. I got about 30 seconds of peace, no exaggerating. I am raging. I need a break.

Plus I ordered fish & chips during those 30 secs and now when it arrives DD is going to be there, hassling me, asking to share, making requests, providing background noise. I just want to be able to eat in peace for once.

Having a beer and laying on sofa. DP is working from home and when he's finished will get a takeaway. Rarely get takeaways so I'm reading every menu ....

Chelsea26 · 09/05/2025 19:24

Lovely thank you! I’ve got my two kids here and my nieces and nephews from both my brothers as they’re at a party. They’ve just had pizza and chips and haribo and have now all bundled into the snug to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks. I’m always very pleased with the older ones as they’re so kind to the little ones and entertain them.

Me and DP are sitting in the garden with a wine and a beer respectively listening to Martin Kemp on the radio. He’s going to make our dinner in a bit - we’re having lamb flatbreads with tzatziki and hummus. Delicious!

LilDeVille sorry you’re so fed up. How old is your DD? Could she have her own portion or is it too late to order now? Hope your evening gets better

Dd is home from Uni. We've had pizza. She is stressing as she has to do an English proficiency test in Brussels tomorrow and she is fretting over the test questions (whilst I do her laundry 🤔) I have pointed out that these are designed to test the ability of non-native English speakers and I'm sure she'll do fine - just throw all the big words out there. Apparently one of the questions was about the life-cycle of butterflies - and to be fair, this vocab is not something she would necessarily ever use nor think about...larvae, pupae etc.

She’s 3, I’ll give her some but the point is I need to be by myself for once 😭 thanks

I'm knackered and debating going to bed early and watching TV. Got a niggly toothache going on also. Was meant to have it filled a few weeks ago but had to cancel because I had to pay vets bills and had to have Ddog pts.
DH is packing for a weekend away. DC are gaming and one of them has a stinking cold so I'm trying to avoid them!

greengreengrass3 · 09/05/2025 19:57

Lovely evening here, just played darts in the garden with husband and I surprisingly won.. never happens and he’s now firing up the BBQ for homemade burgers and lamb chops.

Tarkan · 09/05/2025 20:01

I was out on Tuesday with DH for our anniversary and we ended up walking for miles. I have fibromyalgia so I’ve been suffering for it since we got home on Wednesday. My calves have both totally seized up and my back is agony. So today has been a sofa and TV day. Adult DD went to get her hair done earlier so she did a grocery shop on the way home so I didn’t have to go out for anything. DH left for work around an hour and a half ago so I’ve got the living room to myself all night as DC prefer to chill in their rooms.

wavingfuriously · 09/05/2025 20:01

hmm..bit lonely here but not self pitying..dinner soon 😊🥗

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 09/05/2025 20:01

Sat watching Friends - the episode where elle mcpherson moves in with joey and he tries to repel her

Got a bottle of sauvignon blanc chilling, and I'm gonna watch eastenders once dd decides to fall asleep

Super relaxed tonight ☺️, had a busy day so exhausted

gingercat02 · 09/05/2025 20:03

Home alone, DH playing poker, DS at a friend's.
Bottle of wine, curry and catching up with Doctor Who.

mrsh2025 · 09/05/2025 20:13

At work here

LondonBagpuss · 09/05/2025 20:15

Got home from work, thought I was meeting up with friends, sat in my car wondering why the usual ‘I’m here!’ chatter on WhatsApp wasn’t taking place; checking my messages realised it’s tomorrow. So Friday night spent just waiting to go back to work tomorrow, basically ☹️

GameOfJones · 09/05/2025 20:24

Got home from work and immediately jumped in the shower and into my pyjamas. Then lay on the bed chatting to DH who has been a good egg and assembled my new dressing table while I was out. I hadn't even asked him to he just did it, bless him.

I wasn't very hungry so we've had a "sort yourself out" dinner. DH made sausage sandwiches for himself, DDs had toast and fruit and I had some cheese and crackers. Just put the kiddies to bed and we're now watching YouTube videos researching our next holiday.

I fancy an early night and going to bed with my book....Dead Mile by Jo Furniss. It's alright but I haven't found myself drawn to it although halfway through now and it seems to be picking up.

Myoldbear · 09/05/2025 20:24

We had a lovely country walk in the early evening.
Now it's G And T for me, beer for DH and soon we'll watch HIGNFY.

shellyleppard · 09/05/2025 20:27

Watching old top of the pops with a cheese toastie 🤤😁

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 09/05/2025 20:35

Glass of rosé and a board game in the garden with dh, then he cooked a lovely dinner, which we ate with ds. I'm now doing a bit of my knitting project, then we are all going to watch an episode of our current series in a bit.

katscamel · 09/05/2025 21:42

@MissAmbrosia as someone regularly involved in English language testing just make sure your daughter reads questions properly and if its a speaking exam make sure she gives full answers. I've conducted speaking exams for native speakers needing a particular exam for Canada and they don't do as well as they should as they haven't prepared properly and so don't answer questions (as daft as they might be) fully.
As for the butterfly.... if it's a diagram/ map/ life cycle then the language needed is there. The only thing that needs to be done is to describe what can be seen.

Am sure she'll be ok.

dontforgetme · 09/05/2025 22:07

Fucking terrible. Dp isn’t talking to me and I genuinely have 0 idea why. I’ve come up to bed as the ridiculous silent treatment is driving me insane. I did cook a delicious chilli though which I thoroughly enjoyed.

BarleyMcGrew · 09/05/2025 22:14

Currently obsessing about Ex1 but spending the evening with Ex2 and DC, and Ex2 cooked. I’m feeling so consumed by Ex1 that I messaged Ex3 (who was very sweet about it).

Ate a lot and wondered if I needed to work on myself as a whole being. Decided I was fine and now I am planning to stalk various other Exes before I go to bed.

Outstanding.

Vodkamartini3olives · 10/05/2025 00:15

Mines just started ( just after 4pm here). Managed to finish work early & I'm home alone . Poured my 1st glass of wine and I've got a weeks worth of my guilty pleasure Bravo shows to watch, starting with The Valley. Perfect Wine
