Currently on holiday in Greeceon my own with my 15 year old and 15 month old dd. Eldest had an allergic reaction the day we left and has been covered in hives not wanting to leave the hotel room and youngest has not slept well, barely eaten and screamed the island down for the last 4 days! PLEASE TELL ME IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHOS HOLIDAY HAS BEEN MORE STRESS THEN ITS WORTH? 😂

That's not ideal is it? Can you leave the eldest in the room and go for a walk? Get some treats to cheer up the eldest and tire out the little one?

Overthebow · 09/05/2025 13:26

Have you been able to leave the hotel room with the 15 month old? You were very brave taking them both away bu yourself, I couldn’t have done it by myself with a toddler.

thismummydrinksgin · 09/05/2025 13:30

oh no! Hopefully the hives will go down soon and you can venture out

Last holiday we went on we were left with no running water for 12 hours, no spare apartments for them to move us to! my son came down with diarrhoea, there was still water going to the outdoor shower, had to keep going and filling a bucket with water from the shower to flush the toilet!

QuaintMauveCrow · 09/05/2025 17:24

Thank you for your replies, I have had time with my little one in the pool, out to the town and the beach but she is just not coping with the change I think … lots of treats for my eldest 🙂 dd2 is very unhappy today teething issues on top of everything else she has been inconsolable l. I think I’m going to book a flight home for tomorrow l. I’m feeling a bit disappointed that it wasn’t what I had hoped for them both 😭

cant dd 15 look after dd2 while you have a break xx

thismummydrinksgin · 09/05/2025 17:46

You are allowed s holiday too, for whatever reason they are both being difficult. Go and have an hour and everyone will feel better xx

QuaintMauveCrow · 09/05/2025 17:50

@thismummydrinksgin dd2 becomes hysterical when I leave her sight (she’s not like this at home) I wouldn’t want to put them both through that x

would Did sleep in the buggy or settle with the iPad in buggy for you to go and grab a cocktail/mocktail with DD2. Just to say also have had similar experiences, you will come back and remember the few nice times x

Why did you take your 15 year old out of school for a holiday?? You've got enough money to pay for early flights home and presumably fines, so you should have gone in the holidays, they weren't exactly very long ago!

Jesus Christ. Mind your own business.

arcticpandas · 10/05/2025 15:31

My son broke his arm last year in Greece thé second day so I feel you. You just think why even bother spending money on a holiday when it's shit.

QuaintMauveCrow · 10/05/2025 16:41

We had a really great day today! Both dds really enjoyed it and so have I :) thank you for the nice replies ❤️
@Mareleine I never signed up to coparent with my daughters school ( or you for that matter ) holidays are a new learning experience that a school can’t offer and fyi we recently lost my daughters father to suicide and she needs a break, sorry that doesn’t tie in with a school holiday. Silly woman.

I'm glad things have got better. Enjoy 🍹🏖⛵️

You'll look back and laugh in a few years. Think of the positives...at least you're not at work/not having to cook/not having to clean 🥲

Glad your day has got better

A wee side note... many users using female name type usernames are fat mras not women. Glad it picked up for you... 💐
