How do I prove a negative. EBay

Bought 4 little tubes of Fixodent to keep at work, as my mini plate flys out when I eat.

Only received 2. Seller says he sent 4 and wants proof. Errrrr. How do I do that?

Sent a photo of envelope with a 2nd class stamp and the 2 tubes. I can’t show the missing ones though as they are missing. 😂

Can you do it by weight, which would make postage more expensive if there were 4?

That's a good idea and as an eBay seller I'd accept that.

If the seller is using a postage label the weight should be on the label

Nope. Hand written envelope. No weight. Just a large letter stamp

Look up the maximum weight for a large letter stamp?

If they are the little once the package wiuldn't weigh much more than 50g wich is no where near the maximum for large letter

Id just take raise a case with ebay. The seller im sure knows its not possible to provide proof in this scenario.

I had this exact issue on Ebay once, funnily enough also a hand written large letter with a stamp. Just one (of two) items present. They sent quite a similar message and eventually began subtly implying I had removed it myself when I kept asking them to refund the difference or send the second.

I'd ask them what evidence they have that they packaged and sent 4 OP and escalate it to ebay if they aren't forthcoming.

HarpieDuJour · 09/05/2025 08:27

The seller is being foolish, since they have no proof that it arrived at all and should appreciate your honesty. Since they don't seem willing to sort this out, I would contact eBay customer services and ask them to help.

Sorry, posted by accident/before coffee. Large letter stamp should be for up to 100g.

Fedupandstressed · 09/05/2025 20:58

Yeah I’m giving him another day and then escalating to EBay. They are tiny little tubes about 15 grams each. Last message from him was, was the envelope ripped. Nope. My dentist gave me another one today anyway when she took out my stitches. All this aggro for £6.
