When did it become acceptable to talk so loudly on the phone when on the train?! And there is a lass behind me watching TikTok shite really loudly!! It’s been years since I’ve been on the train and I’ve needed to for work but god it’s annoying!!
im such a miserable bugger aren’t I. Yesterdays journey was so lovely and quiet!

it's got noticeably worse since lockdown (same with buses)

ShillyShallySherbet · 08/05/2025 16:51

I take noise cancelling headphones and watch something on my phone but yes it is annoying. You can ask them to be quiet if you’re brave enough!

OrlandointheWilderness · 08/05/2025 16:54

God def not brave enough!
and the cheap nasty overpowering aftershave.
and there is a guy on FaceTime to his girlfriend while she is doing nothing but watching tv!!
it’s bloody odd out here šŸ˜‚

If I'm bored on the bus ,I like a lug in to a conversation, the more omg, like the better 😁

Sadly manners and consideration are too often in short supply. And you’re not miserable - just naturally pissed off at anti-social behaviour.

shellyleppard · 08/05/2025 16:56

Its definitely got worse....

Is talking and wearing aftershave anti social behaviour now? You do get the odd ott annoying person on public transport, but I think people are becoming far too precious and intolerant of other people doing normal stuff. Actually I think that’s just on mn, not really normal life

OrlandointheWilderness · 08/05/2025 17:01

one conversation has ended - very loud boring business stuff that sounded like it should’ve been an email and the chap talking to his (i assume!) GF isn’t speaking English so I can’t listen to that šŸ˜‚
bloody cheek not to have juicy gossipy conversations if I have to listen to it!

My DD was in a 7 hour train journey and was subjected to a woman carrying out her entire working day on the train incl Teams meetings and calls. Bizarre.

I mean that’s more understandable than the other examples as some firms expect you to attend certain important calls even whilst travelling if you can and who knows if she had deadlines to meet so not really bizarre. Just another hardworking woman multitasking I’d venture!

I’m on the bus and everyone is behaving for now but yes OP you’re right. Loud stinky people or people sneezing a coughing their guts up. Playing music was bad enough but now worse as it’s 15 second clip of music followed by 8,000 subsequent 15 second clips. No awareness of other humans in the vicinity.

Loudly talking about confidential work information. Laptop screens open with their work all over it. I feel like taking a photo of their company laptops and sending it to their data protection officer (but never been brave enough!)
