Help - uti or thrush?

I get UTIs frequently so I always have a box of nitrofurantoin in the cupboard. I started with symptoms yesterday lunchtime (urgency, cloudy urine with bits in it, lower pelvic pain, tingling bladder) however I always had an intense internal itch pain inside the vagina.

I put off taking antibiotics all day. My urine dipsticks were out of date and I haven’t replaced them yet. Being a Sunday I wasn’t going to bother 111 especially having the necessary treatment in my cupboard.

drank plenty of water and was so bloody uncomfortable by 6pm I took nitro. Bladder (I assume) constantly tingling and discomfort after using the loo (I don’t ever get burning when peeing, I get an awful painful tingling in my bladder after peeing. It doesn’t start this way, it builds to it as the infection takes hold and hasn’t reached this point, just the constant discomfort which peaked after going to the toilet).

I’ve been really uncomfortable all night with this intense itch feeling deep inside my vagina. I’m just wondering if maybe I have thrush rather than a uti or maybe both?

I’ve only ever had thrush once before when I was a teenager and used a new shower gel and that was obvious by my discharge (the classic cottage cheese) and I can’t remember how I felt with that.

discharge is normal for where I’m at in my cycle.

bank holiday Monday so again I don’t want to bother 111, DH is away until late tonight so nobody to have the kids, I’m working tomorrow until Friday (away on a course that I cannot cancel) so I can’t see my GP.

anyone got any advice?

shall I keep taking the nitro anyway and treat for thrush? I don’t know how I’d even have either if I’m honest, no sex, no new soap etc.

urine is dark but clear this morning, no floating bits!

so uncomfortable though, any help appreciated.

I’ve only been on the antibiotics since developing the symptoms so I don’t think it’s caused by antibiotics. I haven’t had to take them since September when I had my last uti.

I hate taking antibiotics because they’re so bad for you, I’ve taken my second dose this morning and feel as sick as a pig. However I haven’t also slathered myself in canesten and hoping something works soon
