Weedkiller for patio

I need to clear a patio that has been neglected and is covered in weeds and grass growing between the slabs.It will eventually be relaid but not this year. What is the best product to blitz the weeds? Any other tips for the short term renovation gratefully received

9 parts vinegar with 1 part water with a good squirt of washing up liquid and a big spoon of salt - mix it up in a watering can and pour it on.

I find a small sharp vegetable knife really efficient for getting the weeds out between slabs. I would do that then use oddboots' recipe to kill off anything remaining.
