What do you think about Lorraine Kelly posting on Instagram from her hospital bed prior to surgery?

Interested to hear people's thoughts! I suspect opinions may vary and our ages could have something to do with it. But ... don't know.

What do you say?

An explanation as well. Infact it'll be a year tomorrow.

I think I find it more odd that you’re friends with all your colleagues on socials to be honest, and if you are, surely you could have just messaged privately?

I shared a hospital selfie last year as I left work in an ambulance and wanted to let people know so there wouldn't be any rumours.

I would say “fuck it, let them gossip” but I’ve been on the receiving end of that.

I was carted off in an ambulance one evening while haemorrhaging from a miscarriage. Dh said I looked blue.

gossip on the street must have been rife, as two years later, I went for a job interview at a local school. One of the other applicants, who was also very local, pulled me aside and told me well done for beating the drugs 😳🤣 yep, the rumour was, the ambulance was for a heroin overdose.

Mickeychampionwhatgoodami · 04/05/2025 15:52

Bloody hell Mrs Craven's worth that's outrageous!!
Fact a miscarriage to her at 15 took a heroin od.
Some people are just so stupid.

DreamedTheSweetestDreams · 04/05/2025 17:03

I think anyone who does this is attention seeking.

On a side note, she is one of the worst presenters/interviewers I’ve ever watched. Even when she interviews people that I really like now, I can’t bring myself to watch.

GrandTheftWalrus · 04/05/2025 18:48

harriethoyle · 04/05/2025 15:29

Why not just text an explanation to your colleagues if you felt they needed to be informed? What did the selfie add?! That’s the bit I can’t understand…

Because I don't have all their numbers and it was the easiest way.

WhereAreWeNow · 04/05/2025 18:52

I'm with you OP. I'm intensely private and can't imagine sharing selfies full stop, let alone from hospital!

BethDuttonYeHaw · 04/05/2025 19:01

No different to what Davina McCall did.

and besides Lorraine’s a bit of a national treasure

Pleasantsort · 04/05/2025 19:08

@MrsCravensworth if they are that sad they can make up sick gossip like that, then let them . I'm with you. I tell people I work with the bare minimum. I am friendly and polite but my private life is just that. Best to laugh at people like that. I hope you are ok now , that must have been a horrible time.💐

I resent having to pay the license fee for these useless fuckers.

Supreme Court judgement on the Equality Act - the reporting around it and the issues has been utter drivel.

The Appeal Court judicial review of RAVEC and issues around that eg Harry and his claims - ditto.

Lorraine Kelly - WTAF??

It’s like Take A Break from the Los Angeles office.

Oh my god, you're right. BBC "journalism" is at an all time low. They may as well have had a nodding dog interview Harry.

Just send a message to your line manager?

GrandTheftWalrus · 04/05/2025 18:48

Because I don't have all their numbers and it was the easiest way.

If you don’t know their numbers they’re clearly not close enough friends to merit a health update. I’m afraid I would have dislocated my eyeballs rolling them at you.

LindorDoubleChoc · 04/05/2025 19:40

@GrandTheftWalrus - your pov on this thread is what I'm getting at. To you it seems perfectly normal and natural to post on social media about your hospital admission, you don't see it as strange.

Whereas, in all honesty, there was no need. Your work colleagues would not have known in real time what was happening to you a mere handful of years ago. The outcome would have been the same.

Whatever happens to LK and obvs I wish her well, the share with absolutely everyone - it's just pointless? surely?

As long as it's not showing her growler again, I'm OK with her sharing photos.

That was the day I learned NOT to google what other users are talking about....

LK did what??!

sweetsandsour · 04/05/2025 20:15

I hate the attention seeking hospital posts from celebs. Also see Insta posts with a cannula in a hand and an eye roll emoji type of thing. Then it’s the ‘oh hun are you ok?’ responses. And the poster either ignores them or will reply with ‘I’ve dm you babe’
🙄

Happymover · 04/05/2025 20:19

I saw LK’s photo and post while having an early morning read of the news. Then a photo of Eammon Holmes with his sad but brave face while in hospital . Maybe I’m too old and out of touch to understand. But it baffles me that if someone has been admitted to hospital their first reaction is to take an attention seeking selfie and post it on social media 🤷‍♀️

The nauseating comments from strangers who write like she is family or a best friend is baffling!

Kelly couldn't give a rats arse about any of them! 😂

Penko25 · 04/05/2025 20:26

It’s purely attention seeking, up there with the “currently sat in A&E” Facebook posts, desperate for the “are u ok hun?” responses. Tedious.

@Happymover there’s a brilliant Facebook page called something like angry people in local newspapers- lots of sad but brave faces and pointing a potholes. Well worth following!

Tbf I and others can post what they like on social media. Plenty of people on mine have posted hospital selfies etc.

Some people don't and that's fine as well.

SugarandSpiceandAllThingsNaice · 04/05/2025 21:58
tv land celebrity GIF by nobodies.

Instagram has only been around for about 10 years? Before that it wouldn't be possible to know that a public figure was in hospital having an operation unless they gave a written statement to be read out on the show, or something like that.

Oh no, we knew. Every till had a rack of tabloids spilling the tea on public figures. From who has gotten plastic surgery, to who has checked into rehab, to car crashes and hospital stays. There was even snaps of who was seen or leaving with whom at what party.

Many years ago we were on holiday in Portugal when my now adult children were young teens. My Dad was with us and he was bitten on his ear lobe by a mosquito. His poor ear was so swollen it doubled in size and he had to attend a local doctor for antibiotics . The doctor put a bulky dressing on his ear.

He was always up for a laugh and he decided he would pose with a sad but brave face with his 2 teenage grandchildren either side of him pointing at his ear. They were supposed to have a very serious/sad expression on their faces. We had a hilarious session trying to capture the moment . I came across the printed photos recently that I took. It was about 30 years ago pre mobile phones. In most of them at least one of the 3 of them doubled up laughing just as the camera clicked. Then finally I got the photo for the family album. I’m almost tempted to post it here 😂

BadBones60 · 04/05/2025 22:23

😂😂 wish I could ask her that! Edit - quote missed so doesn't make sense - was referring to first reply about which Lorraine Kelly was posting

WhereAreWeNow · 04/05/2025 22:51

I've just seen what she's in for. As it happens, I'm likely to be having the same operation later this year and I've been wondering how I can take the time off without any colleagues knowing about it. Last thing I want is my colleagues asking about my ovaries! Cannot imagine bloody posting it on social media!
