Rats! The pied piper musical. I was rat number 8 if I recall correctly.

I'm also sure I remember doing a play in infant school about choc rocks, which was something to do with chocolate but no one else seems to remember it so I'm not sure if I just imagined it.

A version of the Mikado based on our class going to Japan.

a version of a book called the Desperate Journey.

a version of Oliver as our leaving show.

I remember a lower class did Boilrella instead of Cinderella as they had got central heating installed.

The only well known one was the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. There was another big music number bringing together several local schools, based on local history and an important anniversary in our town that year.

In juniors we did 'The Water Babies', a Christmas one about Christmas in 'foreign lands' and one year each class was allocated a Commonwealth country to study as a term-long project and we each did a play based on that. My class had Papua New Guinea and we had to wear 'grass skirts' and garlands and I told my mum not to come because the whole thing was unbearably twee and I felt embarrassed.

I mostly tended to cop for 'character parts' or the role of narrator.

Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. I was in the costume department 😄
It was the only school play I was involved with though, the other years they did plays that sadly didn't require custom costumes

In senior school the music teacher was a big Gilbert and Sullivan fan so we did one a year, apart from the year we did Oliver. It was an all girls school so everyone over 5’ went into the men’s chorus where we vied to be tenors

Alice in Wonderland. I was the queen of hearts.

We did Twelfth Night but set in the 30s. I was Viola. I had a fab slinky full length evening dress for the final scene complete with fake cigarette in a black holder. It was wonderful. I was 16.

My school was big on drama. From the top of my head…

Persephone and the Pomegranate Seeds

The Tempest

Under Milk Wood

Twelfth Night

The Browning Version
