Chinese takeaway - no MSG?

Can you request no MSG when you order Chinese takeaway in the same way you can request no mushrooms or similar? I am quite sensitive to it and trying to work out if it’s a fundamental part of the dish or if they wouldn’t bat an eyelid at me requesting no MSG!

I order online so would just be writing it in the notes.

I remember being told it was added to food like salt and that you could ask for a meal without it, but I think in a takeaway situation it might be harder than in restaurants as, presumably, they don't cook every single meal separately. You could stick with meals where it's less likely to be an issue, such as steamed fish and veg or something.
