Weird sore skin on top of foot. I'm baffled. What is it?

The skin on the top of my left foot is sore over the bony, knobbly part and towards my big toe. It's only sore when in contact with fabric. My socks make it sore and lying bed on my front (how I sleep) is making it sore. It was sore enough to keep me awake. There is no bruising and no redness. I haven't done anything to damage it. What on earth is it? Can anyone help?

Gout?

Gout?

It's not in my joints and there is no inflammation. There is nothing to see at all. Just soreness on the surface.

Put some anti inflammatory gel on it to see if that helps?

Have you had a diabetes test

I did Zoe a while back and used a glucose monitor. My results were normal. Why would diabetes make my skin sore?

Cellulitis?

Cellulitis?

I don't think so. It's not hot and swollen. It's not sore at all until I have socks on. It's not sore when I have my birkies on. Just material rubbing on it. It's very weird.

You'd need neurological test to establish the cause. I believe GP should administer it

@ApolloandDaphne It degenerates the peripheral nerves and feet are especially vulnerable. It may not be the skin hurting, but the nerves.
