Can’t contain my excitement!

This is the 4th night in a row that I can’t sleep because I am so excited! DP and I have gone sale agreed on our first home together!

I just needed to share! Any tips for co-habiting, joining finances, moving into a new build, ensuring your mother-in-law doesn’t visit too often etc are very welcome 😊

Wowser that's exciting!

Does it have a garden, what's the location, rural??

Very cool 🏡

Thank you PP!

We’re in a little town which is lovely, lots of amenities close by! We have a great sized garden too - perfect for BBQ weather!

Congratulations but definitely get your finances agreed between you before it's finalised. Most other decisions will hinge on this.

I remember that excitement.
Good luck and enjoy.

Open and frank discussions on finances now. (If not already discussed).

Awww that is lovely @PleaseAndThankYou12 really made me smile.

Only advice I can give is, start as you mean to go on.
50/50 on housework is a big one! Take turns in cooking too.

xx

Congratulations! Exciting times! We didn't join finances, just split the direct debits down the middle. It's probably a good idea to have some sort of joint account but we just never got round to it but we do still share money. Good luck :)

Congratulations. I agree re finances and also discussion re chores. If u can afford it get a cleaner. Think about it, I'm sure cleaning is not one of the things that brought u together. Make time to do the things u liked doing together and apart, alone or with others

Congratulations! Exciting times ahead!

I assume the house and mortgage will be in both your names?
Are you both putting in equal amounts for the deposit? If not, get something written up to state what each of you put in.
We have a joint account but our wages each go in to our own accounts and we transfer money to cover the mortgage /bills to the joint account.
My MIL wanted to visit us the first weekend we moved in to our first house! We had no furniture yet, other than a sofa bed and 2 plastic garden chairs 😂 so we put her off for about a month or so. She lived a 4 hr drive away so we didn't see much of her /FIL.
