Summer Duvet, what tog?

Current duvet 13.5tog if I want a cooler one for Summer what tog should I be looking at?

Our summer one is a 4 tog

I have a cotton 4.5 tog but you can get lighter ones.

We all have twin duvets - so you get one 3.5tog for summer, & one 10.5tog for spring/autumn & they have be fastened together to make a 14tog for winter.
However, we’ve never done that & just swap between the two. So a 3.5tog is generally considered a summer duvet.

I have a 1 tog or just use a sheet

I had a combi duvet, 9 and 4.5 clipped together, so winter 13.5, spring and autumn 8, summer 4.5 of just a sheet. Still have a duvet but now prefer to sleep under a cotton blanket or various layers of double gauze.

Wow so around a 3.5-4.5tog for summer...now wonder we are constantly boiling with a 13.5!!!

I use just a flannelette sheet in summer. I like the weighty feeling of it over a regular sheet. I use this under my 1.5 tog duvet in winter when needed (but it's always thrown off the bed by morning).
I wouldn't use even a 4.5 tog in winter, I see don't know how people sleep under them in summer.

Depends on preference and room temp. Our place never drops below 16 in the winter and we use a combi silk duvet with a 7.0 and 3.5 tog. Use both in winter and have just switched to the thin summer one. Growing up I used 2 duvets, a 13.5 and a 9 tog but my bedroom would often have ice on the inside of the window in winter. We had no central heating at all so I dread to think what the overnight temps were. Modern houses are so warm!

I just layer as I’ve never got round to buying one!

summer I do either a sheet or just the empty duvet cover, add a blanket or 2 if needed

I've got 4 tog and 2.5 tog and 1 tog

I can't just have a sheet so the 1 tog was really good when it's really hot

It's an M&S 1 tog for us..but then only a 4.5 tog in winter (ethically sourced goose down, which is both lightweight and warm).

I was thinking about getting a 1 tog.

May I ask where you got your ethically sourced duvet from?

I need a new duvet and I like the lightness of goosedown, but learning about how most of it is sourced has put me off

It’s not worth having 1 tog.. might as well just use a sheet

I definitely think a 1 tog is worth it.

It feels completely different to a sheet to me, while still being good in hot weather

I have 4 tog with a sheet.

I run hot so use a 4.5 tog all year, but that is the usual summer tog
If thats too much for me, I take the duvet out and just use the cover.
