What’s happened lately to make you think ‘the world has gone mad’?

So after seeing some threads on here today about men being allowed to a breastfeeding group, someone getting in trouble at work because they were a woman wanting to be addressed as a woman, and who knows what else… I’m curious what has happened lately that makes people think ‘WTF! The world has gone totally mad!’

Ignoring kids while on your phone and giving them a tablet to excuse ignoring them or feeding them so much rubbish they are obese or buying nine years olds really damaging skincare or letting primary aged children have social media all being excused as you’re only seeing a snapshot don’t judge others parenting 😤

and the adjustment to work for those with adhd is so expensive, all the special equipment, mind boggling

People flying to Turkey to have their buttocks injected with... something. People having perfectly normal teeth chiselled down to points to have rows of brilliant white tombstone false teeth. Why?

I think if you look back at history this is nothing new -
In the 50/60 with had the Cuban missile crisis and reds under the bed.
Id love for the world to join hands , sing Kumbaya and live in ‘Perfect Harmony’.
But , if any of the ‘bun fights’ on here , are anything to go on, it will be a while yet…..

No, we are not.

The hysteria is just a control measure used by governments to generate revenue through environmental taxes.

Don't believe me?

Ever wondered why the solution to all serious "environmental issues" is a tax?

Petrol cars are bad! Unless you pay a tax.

Flying is bad! Unless you pay a tax.

Pollution is bad! Unless you pay a tax.

They don't ban anything they say is "bad for the environment" they just tax it.

No. I’m an economist. Sin taxes are a tried and tested way to change behaviour. People don’t like it when you ban things.

Exactly! Tax dodgers need to take off the tin foil hats. Behavioural nudges are a common way to get the public to be less of a burden on the state - stop eating sugar or the NHS will have to support you for 40 years with your diabetes. It's not that hard!

I learned yesterday that male pattern baldness has 6x more money for research than my severely life-limiting disability does. It's absolutely despicable. I have no cure, no approved treatments at all, and no medical support, yet I only have about 4 good hours in a day. So depressing.

I heard a radi programme a while ago saying that whilst being researched Viagra was very good for troublesome periods ( can't remember all about it) but there was more money for it for men's problems.

The baldness one makes me laugh - all those men going around looking at how big women's bra sizes are rather than just asking if their dad has a full head of hair...they really don't think of their future (or their kids futures) at all. Us women trying to find men who read books and earn enough to help support a family...

I think we watch/read/hear too much news. That's what makes everything seem worse (not that it isn't)

EleanorReally · 02/05/2025 13:46

exactly, rolling news
even yesterday, live updates about the hot weather!
