Passport waiting times

I know a few years ago there were major delays at the passport office, and it seems like they’ve improved (anecdotally!) but has anyone got recent experience of a passport renewal including name change? Does this take significantly longer? Put my application in and documents are showing as received as of today; I’m hoping to travel end of May.

Not a name change, but a renewal and address change and it was quick. My dd sent hers on the Wednesday before Easter, and it came on Friday the following week.

I renewed my passport in January, including name change. Completed form online and sent old passport to them on the Friday, they received it the Monday and I had my new one by the Friday. I imagine January is one of their quieter times but

Not a name change but I just renewed mine and it was back within a week, (received it today)

I just used the standard service.

Did mine in April and it was the quickest renewal I've ever had. The time between them receiving the documents and the new passport arriving can't have been more than ten days. Mind you it was a straightforward renewal.

I changed my address on my passport and applied for 2 new passports for my children. Once the documents were received , they were processed and approved within a day and then dispatched 2 days later. Whole process was completed within a week

This all sounds incredibly quick! I’m optimistic now

Mine took 4 working days. Online renewal.

Online renewal last month. No name change. Delivered in less than a week from submitting.

I applied for renewal and name change on 26th March but then didn't get round to sending them documents until 14th April. They then emailed me 19th April to ask for more documents. Sent that and it was approved 25th April and got to me on the 29th. So really quick once they had everything.

DD did exactly that about 8 or 9 days ago (adult renewal with NC). She just said today that she’s had the update that it’s been processed and should be here in a few days.
