What is wrong with me?!

Hello everyone,

For the past few months, I've been experiencing really severe pain in my chest and stomach, and I have no idea what’s causing it. I am planning to go to the GP soon, but I want to make sure I’m not just fobbed off when I do.

The pain starts in the upper part of my chest - it feels extremely tight, just under my breasts and sometimes across my back. It’s similar to the worst trapped wind, like something that just needs to be released - but it’s not that, and trying to relieve wind doesn’t help at all. The pain keeps getting worse, and my whole stomach becomes bloated and painful. Nothing seems to relieve it.

Eventually, I’ll vomit (usually twice), and that usually brings immediate relief. However, I had another episode last night and this time vomiting didn’t help — I was up all night in pain. It almost feels like the pain slowly moves down my stomach over several hours, and then after vomiting I’ll start to feel okay again.

This has happened around six times in the past six months, and I’ve never felt pain like it.

Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any idea what it might be?

Thanks so much.

Gallstones

Thanks @DustyMaiden, I’ll look that up.
Have you had them?

Gallstones, I have had my gallbladder taken out now.
I would see your GP asap. In the meantime a low fat diet helped to reduce the attacks.

Another one to say that those are the classic Gallstone symptoms. It really is one of the worst pains to get! Trust it is sorted soon, much sympathy here.

Definitely sounds like gallstones, I've had it and the pain was worse than childbirth, I feel for you, get yourself to the doctors and they'll refer you for an ultrasound

Yes, stick to a lower fat diet and drink plenty of water to reduce attacks.
