Which supermarket/s do you shop in?

Thrilling thread, I know Grin

We have a Lidl at the bottom of our road but we don’t like it, never enjoyed their own brand stuff and their fruit and veg goes off really fast (in our store). Instead, we drive to Aldi which we love Grin in our town but not really walkable with shopping. If we need branded stuff then we pop to our local Tesco, again a drive but local. We also pick up snacks in Home Bargains. Where do you buy your shopping?Smile

I found milk and more, milk often off, deliveries not great, I tried, it failed.

We did have issues with deliveries not turning up on Mondays so just changed days. We get oat milk which possibly just lasts longer anyway so haven’t had problems with it being off. It does get delivered at about 1am so must be out of the fridge for a long time.

Tesco almost exclusively (online). Occasionally get a few things from M&S and Waitrose.

NellieJean · 01/05/2025 15:08

Waitrose online once a week. Occasionally M And S Food which is round the corner and not a supermarket but Costco for bulk stuff loo rolls, detergent etc plus wine.

Tesco and M&S.

I do a monthly Sainsbury shop online.
Monthly Amazon shop (mostly dog food and some groceries).
Then walk into town once a week to Sainsburys.

MinkyWales · 01/05/2025 18:21

Lidl or Aldi, but I make specific trips every few weeks to Sainsbury’s (cat food, flatbreads) and Morrisons (noodles).

I do a large(ish) shop at waitrose every 3-4 weeks & stock up on stuff for the freezer. In between I go to Sainsbury's for some things & M&S for a couple of other things, I find they have the nicest fruit & veg (though they lie - their 'ripe and ready to eat' fruit never is!) If I'm buying e.g. plums or peaches, I always have to put them next to a banana to ripen them up!

We have an Asda, but to be honest it always looks a bit run down to me. Also an Aldi. I've been twice and was seriously underwhelmed. I couldn't find anything I wanted to buy.

There's a large department store in my nearest city and they used to have an amazing food hall where I spent £££. You could get really unusual fruit like gooseberries and redcurrants, but they 'modernised' it a few years ago and it's not a patch on what it was, sadly.

Waitrose, Aldi and Lidl. Despite its many offers, I think Tesco is quite expensive, with Sainsbury's not far behind - at least in my area. I have to be really desperate to venture into Morrisons or Asda.

If I lived in the north, it would Booths instead of Waitrose.

yikesanotherbooboo · 01/05/2025 18:41

Mainly Waitrose but I also shop in Lidl. I’m not a fan of huge supermarkets so avoid our Morrisons and Sainsbury.

OrangeCrushes · 01/05/2025 18:49

All sorts: Costco, Ocado, Waitrose, Sainsbury's, M&S, local international shop, local zero waste shop.

I have a soft spot for Waitrose in particular and like to buy their more premium items.

DilemmaDelilah · 01/05/2025 20:23

Morrison's for big grocery deliveries - I'm NHS so I get free deliveries. Sainsburys out of choice... Lidl for cheap top ups.

I have no loyalty and shop around depending on what I need. Groceries tend to be Aldi or Tesco, meat varies - we don't eat loads so pick up wherever I'm passing. If it's snacks and lunchbox stuff it's B&M, frozen fruit and veg I go to Iceland. I made the mistake of going to Iceland in this heat yesterday and got stupidly carried away in the ice cream section so I need to keep away for a while. ( If anyones interested the TGI Friday Peanut butter and jelly ice creams are lush 😋)
Also absolutely love Lidl for their theme weeks, so much good stuff.
I used to be loyal to Sainsbury's but they were rubbish near me during COVID. Thought I'd try them again a few months ago but loads of subs and rotten fruit so not going back again for a while.

Tesco and Morrisons. I get discount at both which is handy
