Why do we lose contact with friends?

When I was growing up I used to have lots of friends from school or around where I live. Now I am 37 years old and finding it hard to find friends, I only got two close friends from university but may see them once or twice a year if lucky.

Life takes over. Some folk get married and have families and take employment elsewhere. Some more find new friends and pastimes. New exciting opportunities come along. And some folk go in the opposite direction. I don't have any contact with any of my childhood and early adulthood friends. But I've not forgotten them.
