Dubai mats? Wtf?

I've seen "Dubai place mats" for sale for £40 on a local marketplace site. I'd no idea this is a thing and they look like something my Auntie Winnie would have had in the 1950s. What am I missing and what's so good about something associated with Dubai? Same with the overpriced chocolate bars too.

I guess following the success of the Dubai chocolate they might start adding Dubai in front of everything to sell it. I liked the chocolate, although I like anything with pistachio in it. I gather there's now a pistachio shortage, which isn't surprising

I had to look them up. I had a Auntie Winnie who had something like this too.
