Try lemon and garlic mayonnaise with chicken.....delicious! Or a creamy mustard sauce would go well too. Or a port or Madeira sauce would be excellent!

Mushroom sauce or a cream and tarragon sauce would also work well, add a splash of white wine for extra interest.

Classic sauces to go with chicken are bread sauce, Cumberland sauce, redcurrant sauce.

Chimichurri

This, I adore chimichurri! Drizzled over crisp potatoes too, perfect..

bellsbuss · 26/04/2025 23:38

I do a creamy garlic mushroom sauce

PickAChew · 26/04/2025 23:41

A really garlicky Dahl. The M&S tamarind Dahl is lovely as a sauce with chicken. Or lamb. Or salmon. Or just slathered on roast tatties 😋

uncomfortablydumb60 · 27/04/2025 00:03

Chicken with mushrooms, cream and fresh tarragon

ScabbyHorse · 27/04/2025 00:05

Mustard and crème fraiche with chicken stock paste from M&S

CameraCoffeeCrochet · 27/04/2025 00:15

I really like the turkey gravy packet mix, I think it's Colman's. Or KFC gravy.
At home I usually mix loads of chicken bisto and Oxo granules , white wine in with the chicken juices and mix all that together, it's delicious.
Maybe you just can't make good gravy.

cariaaad · 27/04/2025 00:23

Chicken and 40 cloves (of garlic). Delish

Make the 'Marry Me Chicken' sauce from the good food website - so tasty.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 27/04/2025 00:36

Bread sauce

parsnip puree also v nice - basically parsnips, butter and curry powder

Whoever said cheese sauce is a lunatic

BobbyBiscuits · 27/04/2025 00:41

Home made pesto. Whizz up a bunch of parsley or basil or both, some pine nuts, grated parmesan, olive oil, plenty of salt, squeeze of lemon.

Or you can buy this sauce called spicy Ayvar. It's made of aubergines and peppers and chillis and comes in a jar. That's lovely with chicken.

Or a creamy mushroom sauce? Just fry mushrooms with garlic and add a splash of white wine and cook down a bit, then finish with a splash or glug of cream. Sprinkle with parsley.

Ponderingwindow · 27/04/2025 00:44

Cook down mushrooms in some
white wine. Finish with thyme and if you want to be indulgent a dollop of butter.

apricot preserves, mustard, Worcestershire sauce

pan drippings added to most sauces will up the flavor

4kids3pets · 27/04/2025 06:10

Cheese and pepper corn sauce is lush

unsync · 27/04/2025 07:01

Cream and tarragon. Or just reduce the juices from cooking and resting the bird with a bit of white wine.

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER @BumbleBeegu unfortunately we've never hit a sweet Spot with chicken gravy. It's too thin or bland. I've tried Jamie Oliver and boiling bones, using pre made broths and all sorts.

I don't mind the gravey powder either, bisto but also like m abs s tub but I don't like any of it as much as say beef or pork gravy and we have a really no nice expensive chicken.

If it too bland you have either too much liquid or not enough salt/acid. Add wine instead of water. Just thicken with cornflour to the right consistency - but salsa Verde, chimchuri or a homemade Peri Peri sauce could work
