How much to pay 14yo neighbour to feed cat once a day for a week while we're away?

Hi, how much do you think is sensible for them?

Come in, one sachet, one scoop of biscuits, top up water. Only needs one time a day.

£20?

I reckon £5 a day minimum as includes responsibility for checking and locking up your house. My teen (now 16) has been getting £5 a visits for watering plants and putting out / taking in bins for a friend for a couple of years now. She recently got £10 a day for looking after a cat - was 15 min walk away and included litter tray and 10 min play with the cat each time. She did this for 10 days and was chuffed with £100 but the friends
also brought her sweets from their trip and a cool tshit!
As other said, professional cat sitters cost loads more!

Why do people not read.

the child is not having to check or lock up my house.. they are opening a front porch door - if they forget to shut it, the actual front door is and will remain locked at all times. I wouldn't even be actually giving them a key - because I'd just keep that front door unlocked tbh. They just need to cloise the door behind them ideally.

They aren't watering plants.. not taking bins out... not doing litter trays... it's literally 10 metres away, not 10 minutes walk... doesn't have to play with cat

its... open door, put food and water down.... leave.

not this again.... The cat doesn't need a litter tray... the neighbour is going to do it for free ...

Is this attude what's wrong with how we value all jobs?
People being carers and sahms and all sorts?b

I wouldn't work on how I can get it done free and I'm doing X a massive favour to offer this.

My perspective is the value to me and my pet

Very funny, some weird feline botherers out there. Happy holidays OP.

Good lord don't you ever do people reciprocal favours? Everything is financial transaction?

It's because I'm fed up of being called tight, exploitative and abusive. All because I dared to check if £20 was enough and agreed that £30 was reasonable for the task.
