Bad tooth

Im slightly annoyed with my dentist. I developed an infection in a back molar. Went to an emergency dentist at my practice and got antibiotics. The dentist said i can either have it out or have toot canal. I opted for theroot canal. My dentist couldnt do it as it was too far back in the mouth so he referred me to an enderdontist on the NHS so i would not pay. As i was waiting for the appointment a piece of the tooth broke. I decided that the tooth was brittle and so root canaling would make it break furt

I visited my own dentist to ha e a look and tell me if he thought it was worth going through a 2 hour root canal appointment on a brittle tooth. He said even of the endodontist does the root canal and I get a crown put on, from a long term virwpoint be ause the tooth has more fli g than tooth there is not much actual tooth to hold a crown and it would eventuly come off so it's better to have tooth out.

Why didnt hesay this in the beginni g rather than allowing me to say save the tooth with root canal and refer me when at the end of the day he thinks the root canal will fail eventually and i will end up getti g it pulled anyway? Why put a paitent through a lo g root canal appointment if they know it wont work. That doesnt sound very professional and not in the best interests of the patient. I have no issue having root canal but i dont want togo through a very lo g procedure if a frw months down theine i need to ha e it out.

Seems pointless to me. I as the patient need an honest opinion and my decision to save it with root canal was not the best option but my dentist just went along with it. Why oh why
