I think there's a mouse or worse in my sitting room or in the wall

For context, I have a cat that brings rodents and bird in on a regular basis. If I'm able to catch and free them I do but sometimes I'm too late.

Couple of nights ago he brought a mouse into the bedroom ( I was in spare room ) which got away from him and I couldn't find. An hour later brought another one which I managed to get off him and put it in the garden.

I'm in the sitting room and I can hear something scratching and making scrabbling noises. Typically cat is nowhere around.

Is the missing mouse from the other night likely to now be in the wall somehow?

Can you get rid of them? How do you even know that?

We had evidence of them in other places (droppings, nibbled food etc). We had pest control out and eventually they went/died. The noises in the walls were stressful!
