Outdoor lunch for big bday

I need to book a birthday lunch for DH’s 40th next week. It’s forecast to be 24C so ideally somewhere outside that’s extra special when the weather is good. We’re in Herts but willing to travel. I initially thought of Petersham Nurseries in Richmond but the reviews are consistently underwhelming so not sure anymore, particularly given how expensive it is. Ideally it would be somewhere we can go for a walk afterwards or do something fun. Any ideas please lovely MNers?

Somewhere on the river - Marlow, Bray, Hampton etc?

Haven’t been here for many years so can’t recommend food etc, but remember the setting being nice and obv there’s lovely walks around Windsor or the castle nearby

We've been to Petersham Nurseries today for a special lunch. I was concerned about reviews, but have always wanted to visit. Superb food, wonderful service and beautiful surroundings. Sorry if this is too late for your husband's birthday, but might help you for the future.

We ended up going to The Stables at The Grove, which was very nice, but good to know for the future. Glad you had a lovely meal there
