Anyone worked for someone famous?

FishOnTheTrain · 24/04/2025 01:53

I’m working in a company for an influencer/z list celeb. She’s well known in a certain group of people and hangs around with some pretty famous faces. She has her own fashion company.

I don’t report into her, but work closely with her and she is an utter bitch. The way she comes across on social media is so…different. Her intern films her for content daily and she puts on such a smiley show. When the camera is off, she’s rude, demanding, bitches about everyone in the team, including members of the team that go above and beyond to make her business a success and make her happy…I could go on.

she contradicts herself constantly, making me feel like I’m going mad. I know if I died tmrw she wouldn’t care. She cares only about herself and her success. She’s not even nice about her husband, who is such a lovely guy.

I want to get out this company asap. It’s just difficult to know where to go and what to do next so in the meantime…has anyone else experienced similar?

I have lost all respect for this woman. She is awful and everyone that works for her knows it.

A friend of mine used to work in the music Industry in the 80's with Simon Cowell, she worked with huge names, megastars, some of whom she remains in contact with today.

By far the most unpleasant was Whitney Houston, totally believed her own hype, had hundreds of hangers on on her payroll and was nicknamed Shitney due to her vile nature.

Her being a severe drug addict probably didn't help her mood

So glad to hear about David Starkey. I've always liked him- shame he was cancelled.

I've met Davis Starkey a few times and he was always very polite and quite charming, however having witnessed the way he spoke to another (younger, female) academic and his racist comments since, I'm pleased about his cancellation. Charm often hides misogyny and racism.

To flip this around, the nicest celeb I have ever met is Clem Burke. Met him several times and he is genuinely the nicest man I have ever met. Was gutted when I heard he passed away :(

No actual way!!! That's deadly! I never met him but as a student I served Debbie & Chris in a vintage shop on St. Georges Street here in Dublin, they were playing in The Olympia just few doors down over that weekend

Not me but same shop, Joe Strummer walked by while my other colleague was outside having a smoke & they got chatting & he put her & her boyfriend's names down on the door (The Olympia again) needless to say I was raging 😆

Also Paul Weller, David Gray & others

@CruisingDuckI work in a similar world and rich car dudes are the absolute worst.

Why did you feel the need to mention their looks? Surely we'd all look different after make-up artists and stylists have finished with us?

I think the reason is obvious. It’s a reassurance to everyone that aspires to look like a celebrity to say that even celebrities in the wild don’t look like that.

Did you see David Starkey spoke with Andrew Gold the other week?

I find responses like this pointless.

Ditto to yours. If you don't like what someone posts, then skip it.

19 year old me was doing a temp job for a film company based in Soho - I was asked to go down to reception collect a guest and bring them up - lift doors opened and there was stood David Bowie in his just pre Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence period , utterly charming, no entourage and drop dead beautiful!

I spent the entire lift journey back up trying really hard to concentrate on what he was saying and not just scream in his face "I love you and want your babies"

Have to watch what wording I use here.....
I work in finance in the motorsport industry (let's leave it there...)
I have met many .... 'participants' in this sport. Worst I have ever met to date, is a current 'participant' for a team who has a principle called after Dorothy's dog in Wizard of Oz (see where I'm going with this?). Anyway, this 'participant' is British... and an absolute nightmare. Clearly never been brought up to treat people with respect, (respect your elders ;) ) and looks down at us mere staff. Once made a comment to a pregnant member of my team and asked her why she was coming back to work, she said she couldn't afford not to, he simply said to her, whilst doing that bloody head tilt, "shame" then sauntered off with his head held high.
Don't get me started on his dodgy GF....

Anyway, I'm still in motorsport, but work elsewhere now where, so far, the more popular 'participants' are very nice and down to Earth.

Ooh this is interesting! I always thought he was a bit "soft lad", interesting he's an absolute a**. Have got a soft spot for his teammate and principle though!

My aunt worked for British airways throughout the 90's/2000's and was mostly in first or business class.

She said that Katie Price was incredibly rude and demanding, and would just act really confrontational over minor things. This was when she was flying back and forth while trying to make it in America, so my aunt came across her a fair bit. I asked my aunt about Pete and she said she didn't know who he was (she was never really into pop culture) so I guess he didn't make an impact.

She always said the nicest/friendliest was Renee Zellwegger and that Renee/her PA would always buy gifts for the cabin crew. She said Simon Cowell was really nice too and she always thought he was gay (this was of course pre-marriage/kid!).

I know someone who worked for easyJet and KP was a pain in their flights as well, demanding champagne when they done even have any on board.

I used to work with Andy (from CBeebies fame) and he is absolutely lovely, kind and professional.

Mr Tumble was a bit of a nightmare when it came to other staff but everything you see on TV with him and the kids is totally true - he’s amazing with them.

Claudia Winkleman was horrible to me but lovely to the contestants.

Josh Widdicombe did a speech at my workplace once and he was absolutely brilliant.

Vanessa Feltz was always very polite to people ‘below’ her - ie in much lower assistant type roles.

No....say it isn't so. Claudia is my imaginary best friend!

The glucose woman?

The one who called herself Dr xx xxx even though she wasn't an MD but then did get herself some kind of PhD from somewhere not very prestigious?

I used to be a talent agent, lots of big Hollywood names. My experience is that all celebrities are a bit weird just by virtue of living so far outside normal life.

Kellybonita · 24/04/2025 15:33

As Matthew perry said, he thought that becoming famous would make him happy.

It didn't. He still had all of the same problems. Low self esteem anxiety addiction

Marcus Wareing (celebrity chef) and he and his wife were bloody lovely ;-) ….

Oh thank god. I love him but live in fear he's a monster in real life!

Taylor swift, super nice. I was expecting the worst but she talked to me for at least 15 minutes between shoots. She kept coming back saying " I was just thinking about what you said" and carried on the conversation. She gives you a lot of attention and looks you right in the eye when talking so made me feel a little on edge 😂. She seems incredibly intelligent as does her publicist. Can't remember her name but she was fab!

I think Taylor must genuinely be a nice person because you just NEVER hear people saying bad things. OR, she's a total bitch with the complete ability to mask and hide it ALL the time (I'm going for option 1).

Not the same, but I'm reminded of an event or a news article or something I read about with Richard Branson. He was opening some community center/school/clinic or something that he'd funded in South Africa and he said something like, "Well, I met Nelson Mandela at [wherever] and of course, he just casually dropped into conversatino that you really really needed this [clinic/school/whatever]. And asking around, it seems I'm not the only person who, when Madiba asks for something, finds themselves just saying "yes" instantly."

It made me laugh becuase stories like that about Nelson Mandela were rife. If you met him and you had money or a skill or something, there was a good chance you'd find yourself co-opted! Apparently his charm was off the scale! I just remembered that my brother met him once - he was out running early and more or less ran into him having his morning walk when he was president. After they'd all picked themselves up apparently he shook my brother's hand, they all had a nice chat and my brother left... feeling grateful the 3 security guys hadn't jumped him! Grin

Bob geldof is hardly going to be in a great mood when his ex wife, the mother of his children died a tragic death, and then his daughter Pixie geldof also died tragically. Is he?

Of course he's going to be grumpy.

I remember he said once that sometimes when he's out shopping, the grief can hit him so bad, that he runs out to have a cry.

Why would your ex-wife dying 25 years ago mean you need to argue with a shop assistant that you should get a £2 book for £1 in a charity shop despite being a millionaire?

Many of us have gone through grief and tragedy in our life, it doesn't give us a free pass to be continually rude to strangers decades on.

I worked on some live shows for Whitney Houston before she went downhill. She kept very much to herself with a small close entourage, one of whom was rumoured to be her girlfriend. No outrageous demands and the entourage were also friendly.

It was a shame to watch her downward spiral.

What about his daughter? She died more recently of a drugs overdose. You left that one out.

Losing your child is meant to be the strongest grief anyone can go through.

I know someone who's son killed himself. I've never seen her smile since it happened.

I can understand why Bob geldof is grumpy.
