40th present for DH

DH’s 40th bday is next week. I have booked a European city break to a place he’s always wanted to go and have pulled together an itinerary that I know he will love. But I’ve been a bit rubbish on physical presents for him to open on the day and from DD6. He annoyingly went clothes shopping last week and bought himself a lot of stuff that I had in mind for him. So far I’m thinking: guide book for the city break, a nice shirt, wallet or perhaps a leather bound refillable notebook for work. Any suggestions for other good 40th presents?

Wow you are doing a lot
Mine will be 40 in a few weeks and I asked him if he wanted a party, a trip away or what and he has asked for Air Jordans that's it
I would have loved to go away maybe to the Lake District
Anyway your DH is very lucky and I'm sure he will be thrilled with what you've got him

For my partners 40th, we had a trip away. I also bought him concert tickets, a piece of art for his office, a ring which I had engraved, some whiskey, a pair of sunglasses, a Lego set and I made him a basket full of his favourite snacks.

I got DH a copy of the Beano comic that was printed the week he was born for his 40th. Easy to find on eBay for only a few pounds. I think he used to read it when he was young. Also a cool gift for our young (at the time) kids to give daddy.

It was his birthday recently. He bought himself something about a week before but I had already bought him as a gift. I had a go at him for buying himself useful stuff so close to his birthday as he's hard enough to buy for and doesn't want stuff to just lie about the house.
