iPhone damage/questions

I have an iPhone 13 and the screen stopped being responsive in parts. I took it to a corner shop yesterday where the man replaced the screen for £60.

Now the Face ID isn't working and I see it's a thing that happens if you don't get Apple to replace the screen on iPhones 13 or later. Plus the screen occasionally goes double (it splits in two, both the same). I had no idea you were meant to get Apple to replace the screen and wish I'd known!

Does anyone know if this is irreversible? Googling suggests it is. Like, even if I took it to Apple they would not be able to fix it. (I would love someone to tell me they could as it's so much cheaper than a new phone).

Secondly, if I have to get a new iPhone which model shall I get? I've loved the 13 (til now). Shall I stay with that?

Can’t answer definitely but I suspect you’re going to need a new phone. Highly likely that Apple won’t touch it now ; who knows what the other person has done with the repair you’ve had done. I think if you persue another unofficial repair you’ll only be chasing your tail and you’ll be wasting your money.
